BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY

It’s hard to believe, but summer is coming to an end and students are heading back to school!

As children return to classrooms, we’re asking everyone to slow down, stay alert, and watch for students in school zones, neighbourhoods, and around bus stops.

🚌 School Bus Safety

Stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended.
Never pass a stopped school bus.
Watch carefully for children getting on or off the bus.

🚸 School Safety Zones

Obey the posted speed limit in all school safety zones.
Slow down and be prepared for children who may suddenly enter the roadway.
Watch for crossing guards, pedestrians, cyclists, and increased traffic.
Put your phone down and eliminate distractions.
Give yourself extra time when travelling through school areas.

🏫 Parents & Students

Remind children to look both ways before crossing the road.
Use designated crossings whenever possible.
Stay aware of traffic, even when walking or riding a bike.

From all of us at Beckwith Fire Department, we wish all students, teachers, staff, and families a safe and successful school year!

Slow down. Stay alert. Follow the rules. Get home safely.
