Good morning CP!

A couple of years ago I was having a particularly rough stretch, with multiple family members and a very good friend in hospital, 2 of which would pass away within a short time. While visiting my friend for the last time, in another town, and feeling rather low, upon leaving I see this sign in front of our car and it made me laugh, mainly because I knew my buddy would also find it hilarious. Sometime you just have to make do with what’s available I guess (extension cord not provided).

Even when times seem tough finding the things that make you and other’s laugh can make a day better. I hope you get a good chuckle and have a great day!

Good morning Carleton Place!

Yesterday morning I had the honour to attend and speak at the dedication of the Carleton Place section of the OVRT to Ian Edwards. In the presence of his wife Janet and his daughter Emma, an information board was unveiled in honour of Ian.

A testament to a life of volunteering and giving back to one’s community, Ian played an integral part in creating the OVRT as well as other trails across Lanark County for all to enjoy. A local business man (he owned Carleton Auto Parts), Ian spent a lifetime giving back and although a quiet man, his actions spoke volumes for our town and beyond through his actions.

Have a great day and stop by and read about Ian while you’re out in the trail!

Good morning Carleton Place.

A number of years ago, the parents of Elgin Fraser put up this memorial to him at the arena after he passed away to childhood cancer. Little Elgin loved hockey and I remember a picture of he and Mike Fisher of the Senators, smiling together often.

This memorial sat outside Blade Sports for years and during the renovations at the rink it got taken down and never put back up. A number of months ago Elgins mom posted about it on a Facebook site and so I reached out. We had a discussion and it lead to it going back up in its rightful spot.

A reminder of a sweet child, taken far too soon and also to pack as much love and laughter into your life as you possibly can, as young Elgin, his parents and siblings did.

Have a great day!

Good morning Carleton Place.

As the majority of our children head back to school this week, (French board went back last week) our sidewalks and streets will be a lot busier with busses, bicycles, and young feet. Please take extra time and caution while you are on your morning commute, and have patience as everyone gets back into the swing of things or are figuring it out for the first time.

The safety of our youngest citizens should be front of mind while they make their way too and from school.

Enjoy the year folks. I hope everyone has a terrific start!
