Our peace officer was on foot patrol today when he was approached by a lovely person asking for help. They needed to withdraw a large sum of money from the bank to bail out a relative who was supposedly in jail, and they hoped the officer could accompany them for security. Thankfully, they crossed paths—because they were about to fall victim to the ‘bail scam’ that has been circulating in our area.

We want to put an end to scams in our town. Please contact the RCMP before giving or sending money to anyone you don’t know personally. Nothing is ever so urgent or secretive that you can’t take a moment to call and verify first.

We want your money to stay in your pocket.

Lost pets can’t call home 📞 — but a license can bring them back.

Licensing your dog or cat annually is the law in Cardston. We’re grateful to all pet owners who keep their licenses up to date. The fees collected from licensing go directly back into supporting our animal control services.

🐾 License your dog or cat today — it’s simple, affordable, and could keep your best friend out of the pound.

Good morning,

Yesterday I witnessed a scary near miss by the elementary school that I hope we can learn from and avoid in the future.

A little girl was on her way to school and almost got hit by a vehicle at the 4 way stop intersection.

There were two contributing factors and two lessons I want to share.

The first lesson is for drivers. When you come up to a stop sign remember that you need to come to a complete stop at the white line not the crosswalk. A complete stop means that your wheels are not moving. Then scan the intersection and if it is safe proceed. Failing to come to a complete stop is obviously dangerous and comes with a hefty fine.

The second lesson is for kids. When you come to an intersection you have the right of way so no need to rush. please do not run. You also need to stop and scan the intersection. That means you look both ways, and make eye contact with drivers. If you can’t see their faces they might not see you. When it is safe walk across the road.

I want to thank everyone for your efforts to drive safely.

We hope you are all having a good day. We wanted to remind everyone that only registered and insured vehicles are allowed to be left on the road. We see basketball hoops and other objects on the road on a regular basis. We request that those items be moved to make our roads safer and prevent them from being damaged by road users and snow removal crews.

We are saddened to hear that people in our community are being the victims of crime but we would like to remind everyone in the community to lock their vehicles at all times and never leave keys in the vehicle. It is also recommended that people remove all valuables from their vehicle to avoid attracting crime.
