Council Serves Breakfast at the Cardston Seniors Centre

On Monday, June 1, members of Cardston Town Council had the opportunity to help prepare and serve breakfast at the Cardston Seniors Centre.

It was a pleasure to spend the morning visiting with local seniors, sharing a meal, and expressing our appreciation for the many contributions they have made—and continue to make—to our community.

Events like this are a reminder of the importance of community connections and the value of spending time together. Thank you to the volunteers and staff who help make these gatherings possible, and thank you to everyone who joined us for breakfast.

We appreciate the warm welcome and look forward to future opportunities to serve and connect with our residents.

A Letter from the Mayor - May 22, 2026

As spring arrives in Cardston, there is a renewed sense of optimism and excitement throughout our community. Residents are looking ahead to a strong and promising future, with several important projects and announcements helping shape the town’s continued growth.

Cardston Town Council remains committed to balancing community growth while keeping taxes as affordable as possible for residents. Council is carefully planning for important long-term infrastructure and community projects, including a future sewer treatment plant and a new golf clubhouse, while continuing to focus on responsible spending and sound financial management.

Our community is also celebrating the recent provincial announcement of a new hospital for Cardston. This significant investment will benefit local residents and surrounding communities for generations to come and represents an important step forward for healthcare in southern Alberta.

Council has identified several strategic priorities that will guide decision-making and investments in the years ahead. Information on these priorities, along with a breakdown of how your municipal tax dollars are allocated, is listed below and will be included with your property tax assessment notices this month.

On May 7th, the Town of Cardston was honoured to accept a Community Foundations Diamond Anniversary Grant in support of the 2026 Moses Lake, Cardston & County Powwow.

Town employee, Hannah Farrell, had the opportunity to help work on the grant application and attend the celebration. The experience was incredibly eye-opening and gave a much deeper appreciation for the amount of generosity, heart, and community support happening behind the scenes throughout Southern Alberta through the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta. Hearing the stories behind the donors and learning about the many projects and communities impacted through this organization was inspiring.

The Moses Lake, Cardston & County Powwow is such an important and meaningful collaborative event in our community. It creates space to celebrate and honour Indigenous culture, traditions, music, dancing, and community while bringing people together in a positive and meaningful way.

The Town acknowledges and appreciates all involved with this Powwow, the organizers, Elders, dancers, drummers, singers, knowledge keepers, volunteers, and community members who are the heart of this event. The amount of work, care, culture, and tradition that goes into making the Powwow happen year after year is incredible, and the Powwow would not be what it is without the people who continue to share and carry these traditions forward.

The Town of Cardston is incredibly grateful to the Community Foundation, the Community Foundation Board, the donors, and everyone involved in supporting an event that means so much to so many people. ❤️

Mark your calendars for the 2026 Moses Lake, Cardston & County Powwow, for Wednesday, July 15th!

Mayor Brown took some time to attend the Annual Mother's Day tea at the Chinook Lodge, a joyous tradition and social event which celebrates the mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers at the Chinook.

🌸 Annual Mother’s Day Tea at Chinook Lodge 🌸

Today we gathered for one of our favourite traditions — our Annual Mother’s Day Tea. The room was filled with laughter, good conversation, delicious treats, and that special kind of warmth that only comes from being together.

Our residents enjoyed visiting, eating, and soaking in the beautiful atmosphere. We made sure each of them felt celebrated, appreciated, and reminded of just how much they mean to our community.

We were also honoured to welcome a special guest, Mayor Paula Miller Brown , who joined us for the festivities and added to the joy of the day.

A heartfelt thank‑you goes out to our amazing volunteers — your helping hands and kind hearts make events like this possible.

💗 Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible women who shape our lives with love, strength, and grace.
