🎉 Happy Alberta Seniors Week 2026! 🎉

This week, we proudly celebrate the seniors who have helped build our communities, shaped our families, lived with us and enriched our lives through their wisdom, resilience, and generosity.

At Bow Valley Regional Housing, we are honoured to support and serve seniors across our lodges, continuing care programs, and independent living communities in Banff and Canmore. Every day, we are inspired by the stories, experiences, and accomplishments of the residents who call our communities home.

Seniors continue to make invaluable contributions through mentorship, volunteerism, leadership, friendship, and the countless ways they strengthen the fabric of our communities. Alberta Seniors Week is an opportunity to recognize these contributions and to express our gratitude for all they have done—and continue to do.

To all of our residents, families, volunteers, staff, and community partners who help create welcoming and vibrant communities for seniors, thank you.

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE: EVACUATION ALERT vs EVACUATION ORDER

During wildfire season, fast-moving incidents can change quickly. Understanding the difference between an Evacuation Alert and an Evacuation Order can help keep you and your family safe.

🟡 EVACUATION ALERT
An Evacuation Alert means there is a potential threat to your area.

This is your time to:
- Prepare to leave on short notice
- Gather important documents, medications, pets, and emergency supplies
- Fuel your vehicles
- Make a plan for your family and livestock
- Stay informed and monitor official updates

You do NOT need to leave yet — but you should be ready to go at a moment’s notice.

🔴 EVACUATION ORDER
An Evacuation Order means there is an immediate threat to life and safety.

This means:
- Leave the area NOW
- Follow directions from emergency personnel
- Do not delay to gather belongings
- Roads and conditions may change rapidly

When an Evacuation Order is issued, emergency responders need residents to leave quickly so crews can work safely and efficiently.

The best time to prepare is BEFORE an emergency happens.

Be prepared. Stay informed. Look out for your neighbours.
