Yes, there will be detours and traffic impacts. No, we're not thrilled about them either. 🚧
This fall, we'll be completing bridge and culvert rehabilitation work at several locations across Canmore as part of the 2026 Bridge Asset Management Project.
This work helps keep our transportation and pedestrian infrastructure safe and reliable, while extending the lifespan of Town assets and reducing the need for more costly repairs in the future.
The following structures are included in the project:
📍 8 Street Bridge
📍 10 Street Bridge
📍 Two Bridges on Policeman's Creek Trail (from Canmore Collegiate High School toward downtown)
📍 Spring Creek Drive Bridge
📍 Spurline Policeman's Pond Bridge
📍 Silvertip Trail Culvert
Construction is anticipated between Sept. 21 and Oct. 25, 2026. Residents and visitors may experience temporary road, pathway and trail closures, detours, traffic impacts, increased construction traffic and noise near project sites while work is underway. Please follow all posted signage, closures and detour routes to help keep everyone safe.
Large infrastructure projects, just like this one, involve many moving parts, including weather and site conditions that can affect schedules. To ensure residents have the most up-to-date information, construction dates, closures, and detour details will be posted here as they become available: https://bit.ly/3P98jsK
