Each Remembrance Season, the Town of Trent Hills, in cooperation with the Campbellford Legion, honours the service and sacrifice of our Veterans through the Memorial Banner Program.
By proudly displaying the names and faces of local Veterans and sharing their stories, we hope to help our community connect with the everyday people who made the extraordinary decision to serve their country.
Criteria for Honoured Veterans
To be recognized through the Memorial Banner Program, the Veteran must meet the following criteria:
Be a military Veteran, as defined by Veterans Affairs Canada;
Be a Canadian citizen, or have served in battle alongside or in support of Canadian troops;
Have been Killed in Action, Wounded in Action, or Honourably Released from military service; and
Have a connection to Campbellford, including having been born, raised, served, retired, or died here, or having family with ties to the community.
Purpose of the Program
The Memorial Banner Program is intended to:
Engage our community in honouring local Veterans in a visible, meaningful, and dignified way;
Promote remembrance throughout Campbellford and the surrounding community;
Educate students, residents, and visitors about the faces, stories, and service of our Veterans;
Preserve the personal stories behind Canada’s military history; and
Help ensure that the service and sacrifice of our Veterans continue to be recognized and remembered by future generations.
