This month represents both National Indigenous Peoples History Month as well as the kick off of National Pride Month. It’s an opportunity to learn, to love, to share and to give. Celebrations and opportunities will be happening in every community across the Country and I urge you to check them out! Try something new, pick up a new book, listen to an indigenous podcast and or join in a local parade! June is a beautiful month - let’s embrace it.

Cuts to Canada Post hugely impacts small businesses in our country, our seniors, our over 8 million people living with disabilities and our rural and isolated communities. It’s clear Carney doesn’t care about all Canadians, just those who gain from his cuts.

Canada has no future without its workers. A Prime Minister that just announced a data centre to be built in Kamloops where residents have just had to shut off their water supply due to an infrastructure failure — image, when water needs to keep a data centre cool outweigh the water needs of the community, and the billionaires choose themselves and profits over people. That future is now, as Carney drives forward massive private ownership in Canada.

Soccer is culture in our community - it’s always so exciting to see Collins hit the pitch with her Counsins. We’re in Cowichan Territory all weekend, running, passing, hopefully doing a lot of scoring but most of all, having fun and visiting loved ones. Collins could have three+ games today and I could too, Creator carry us! Haha

In two weeks, we are welcoming Tanille Johnston for a session that asks some necessary questions.

Where are Indigenous people present in governance, and where are they not? What does meaningful inclusion look like at federal, provincial, and local levels? And what happens in the spaces in between?

Politics: Indigenous or Out? is not a lecture. It is an invitation to explore these questions with curiosity, care, and a willingness to sit with complexity.
