Water restrictions begin Nov. 4💧 Calgary is entering one of the final stages of work on the new Bearspaw South Feeder Main.

Beginning Nov. 4, crews will connect the new pipe to Calgary’s existing water system. To complete this work safely, the existing feeder main must be temporarily shut down, reducing the amount of water available across the city.

For approximately 4 weeks:
• Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions will be in effect city-wide
• No outdoor water use will be permitted
• Calgarians are being asked to conserve water indoors by running full loads of laundry and dishes, limiting unnecessary toilet flushing, and aiming for three-minute showers

Once the connection is complete, the new line will be disinfected, filled and tested before entering service. Did you know that 600 hungry goats are brought to Nose Hill Park every year to graze a broad area for a short period? Goats, with their similar grazing habits to elk and bison, have been chosen to help restore balance and increase ecosystem health, reintroducing this process in a controlled and site-specific way. While this is outside Ward 7, we love this program and think it demonstrates the benefits of thinking outside the box and innovating year after year.

The goat herd will be monitored and managed by a professional shepherd and highly trained herding dogs which will be on site 24/7. To ensure safety of the herd livestock and the public, please do not feed, approach or interact with the goats.

Why Goats? 🐐
Historically, large herbivores like bison and elk roamed the area, maintaining the ecosystem by grazing on vegetation and turning soil over with their hooves. With the reduction of these herbivores, the park has seen an overgrowth of vegetation, as well as shrub and tree encroachment into the grassland; threatening the health of this ecosystem. In prairie environments, this type of natural disturbance plays an important role in maintaining balance within the ecosystem.

We received another update from City Administration regarding Stampede Tents:

“The City remains committed to balancing Calgary's vibrant festival atmosphere with the needs of nearby residents. Our officers work closely with event organizers throughout Stampede to address concerns, encourage compliance and take enforcement action when warranted.” (Thursday July 9th, 2026)

Total Noise Complaints Received: 186
Cowboys Music Festival: 124
Badlands Music Festival: 37
Wh***ey Rose: 6
National Saloon: 1
Other events: 18

The Badlands tent received multiple warnings followed by a ticket this week. After completing an internal review of the ticket issued to organizers of the Badlands Music Festival, the ticket has been rescinded. As a result, there are currently no active enforcement actions associated with that incident.

“We are encouraged by the reduction in decibel levels over the past three nights; however, bass levels remain a challenge,” says Ryan Pleckaitis, Chief, Community Standards. “We will be monitoring this venue closely with the goal of achieving compliance through working with operators or through enforcement, if necessary.”

Residents who wish to report concerns about noise, public disorder, or loss of public amenities can do so through 311. Information about noise regulations and major event permitting is available on Calgary.ca.

Crescent Heights' Stampede Breakfast is happening this Sunday, July 12th. 🤠

CHCA members who plan to attend the Stampede Breakfast are asked to check the expiry date on their CHCA membership. If it expires between now and July 12, please renew online before arriving at the breakfast. The association cannot accept debit or credit cards so renewing a membership is much faster and easier when you do it ahead of time! Members do not pay an admission fee for the breakfast; non-members are asked to bring $5 cash.

Hey Ward 7. We've been staying on top of updates from City Administration regarding Stampede Tents and we're happy to share them with you as well:
☎️ From July 2-5th, 311 received 70 complaints for various tents and events across Calgary.
🎫 Cowboys' tent has received slightly more complaints than last year, however when bylaw officers have taken decibel readings, they fall within the prescribed limits
📢 After multiple warnings, Badlands Music Festival received a ticket for exceeding their maximum decibel limit on July 6th

We are keeping an eye on the data we receive through administration. If you are experiencing issues at your residence related to:
- noise
- public disorder
- loss of public amenities
Please report them to 311 via phone, online, or through the app. You can send a note to our office as well, but please ensure that the same details reach City Administration through 311.

We will receive another update on July 9th and we'll share our own shortly after. Councillor Atkinson and the Ward 7 Team are here to ensure our hard-working residents are heard and we can find the right balance for this time of year in 2027.
