🌳👮Bring your community spirit & join us for an afternoon of fun at Picnic with the Police!

This free community event provides families with an opportunity to meet Calgary Police Service (CPS) members, learn more about policing in Calgary, & enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities.

📅 Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026
🕚 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
📍 Stanley Park, 330 42 Avenue S.W.

Attendees can enjoy free food, music, face painting, a craft station & sports activities, including laser relays, while also having the opportunity to meet members of the Mounted Patrol Unit & Bike Team 🚴 🐴

🚓 Marked police vehicles will be on site for children to explore & visitors can learn more about CPS technology & operations through a drone demonstration.

📚 Families are encouraged to bring a gently used book to exchange for a new title to take home.

🤝 We look forward to connecting with community members.

Join us on Tuesday, September 8 as we honour the Calgary firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community. ❤️

The Calgary Fire Department will gather to remember our fallen firefighters and stand alongside their families, friends and colleagues. This year, we will also recognize Captain Lorn Howes, Lieutenant Ronald A. Randen and Deputy Chief Alton G. Mathers, whose names are being added to the Police Officers and Firefighters Tribute Plaza.

🕛 Memorial Ceremony: 12 p.m. at the Tribute Plaza

Recycle more packaging this October
Calgary, get ready to recycle more! Starting October 1, 2026, you’ll be able to recycle more household packaging than ever before. This includes:
• Flexible bags like chip bags, granola wrappers and coffee bags
• Foam packaging like cushion blocks, meat trays, and egg cartons
• Tubes like lotion tubes, deodorant and toothpaste
• Food and body aerosols like cooking spray, hair spray and sunscreen

Calgarians have asked for a simpler recycling system and more materials to be accepted. The good news? More packaging can now go in your blue cart, making recycling easier and more convenient.
