Each program is community-based and inclusive of Indigenous culture and local knowledge. Programs are designed to be short-term, community-based, and employment focused. They offer a unique learning atmosphere incorporating practical, h

ands-on instruction with fieldwork, exercises, and group interaction. Program list:

• Environmental Monitoring Coordinator
• Environmental Site Assessment Assistant
• Contaminated Sites Remediation Coordinator
• Solid Waste Coordinator
• Land Use Planning Coordinator
• Local Environmental Coordinator
• Certificate of Applied Environmental Techniques
• Certificate of Environmental Planning and Administration

We license trainers across Canada to deliver our curriculum and the programs are delivered right in your community. Programs vary in length and graduate skills, however the goal of each program is to provide environmental training for the graduate to gain employment at an assistant level.

Supporting nearly 1,000 homes takes the right knowledge and people committed to learning.

Recently, a group came together to share what’s working in housing, focusing on practical areas like energy codes, risk management, and new funding opportunities.

These are the kinds of things that directly shape how homes are built, maintained, and sustained over time.

What stood out most was the momentum to keep going: strengthening project management, making sure housing reflects community priorities, and creating more opportunities for youth to get involved and lead in the future.

Join us for an engaging conversation with members of Samson Cree Nation as they share firsthand insights from their journey into expanding their knowledge on National Energy Codes for Buildings (NECB) and the real-world benefits the Codes bring to their communities.

Hear directly from those working on the ground; people who have navigated complex code requirements while making tough decisions about implementation, construction practices, and long-term community needs.

This session offers a real look at what it truly takes to build structures that meet the NECB requirements. You’ll hear about the challenges, the breakthroughs, and the tangible improvements in building performance and longevity that come from embracing the Codes.

Whether your community is already deep into a construction project or just beginning to explore sustainable building practices, or if you’ve encountered obstacles on the path to better, more resilient construction, this webinar is designed for you.

Samson Cree Nation is a Sovereign Nation, located in the heart of Alberta and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of all their people by maximizing human resources tools and by respecting the Cree language and traditions of their people.

Stronger homes begin with sharing knowledge and learning together. 🏡

At our recent housing and energy sessions, people came together to learn, ask questions, and get hands-on.

One Nation is planning five new homes over the next five years, all built to code, and upgrading 42 more. Already, two homes have new doors, windows, and insulation because of what was shared.

Just as important, people are feeling more confident, working with contractors, managing budgets, and making choices that support healthier, more efficient homes.

How can training today shape housing outcomes at scale tomorrow? 🏡

With programs expected to reach hundreds of homes — and capital projects influencing dozens more — the opportunity to embed energy efficiency and better design into housing is significant.

The ripple effect goes beyond buildings: it impacts affordability, operational costs, and long-term sustainability for families.

💬 What strategies have you seen work when scaling housing or energy efficiency initiatives across multiple communities?

As we expand housing and energy training across communities, one question stands out: how do we make it truly inclusive and impactful for all?

There’s growing momentum to ensure training reflects the diverse realities of Indigenous communities, while continuing to build capacity in areas like energy codes, funding pathways, and long-term housing sustainability.

At the same time, there’s strong interest in integrating youth engagement and cultural perspectives into this work.

💬 What elements make training meaningful and relevant in your community or organization?

What does real impact from housing and energy training look like in communities? 🏡

We’re seeing it translate into action, from new homes being planned with full code compliance, to large-scale retrofit goals, and immediate upgrades like improved insulation, windows, and doors.

Beyond the technical knowledge, the biggest shift has been confidence — enabling better decision-making, stronger collaboration with contractors, and more sustainable outcomes for families.

💬 What does “successful training” look like to you in your work or community?

🧱 Air Barrier Continuity Matters

It’s not enough to seal individual gaps, the air barrier must be continuous around the entire building envelope.

Breaks in the air barrier can lead to:
⚠️ Heat loss
⚠️ Condensation inside walls
⚠️ Mold and material deterioration

Do you know if your home has a defined air barrier system? How could builders improve continuity?
