Tonight our hearts are heavy.
Across Canada, thousands of young people put on the cadet uniform each week. They show up with excitement, nerves, laughter, and big dreams. They stand a little taller, learn to lead, make lifelong friends, and become part of something bigger than themselves.
Today, the cadet family lost one of its own.
A young cadet who, like so many of ours, likely boarded that bus surrounded by friends, talking, laughing, and looking forward to whatever adventure the day held. It is impossible to imagine the pain their family, friends, and fellow cadets are feeling tonight.
The cadet program is more than a program. It is a community that stretches from coast to coast. When something like this happens, every corps feels it. Every cadet. Every officer. Every parent who has watched their child proudly put on that uniform.
To the family of this young cadet, we send our deepest love and condolences. Your child mattered. Your child was part of a family that spans this entire country.
To the cadets and staff in Québec who are grieving tonight, know that you are not alone. The cadet community across Canada stands with you.
And to the first responders and medical teams caring for the injured, thank you for your courage and compassion in such a difficult moment.
Tonight we hold our cadet family a little closer.
From all of us at 1292 RCACC, we are thinking of you.
