⚠️ On Saturday, May 23, 2026, our officers stopped an 18‑year‑old driver travelling 80 km/h in a 50 km/h zone near 48 Street & 61 Avenue S.E. The driver was issued a $324 ticket for speeding & an additional $105 ticket for illegally tinted windows.

‼️ Speeding & vehicle modifications like illegal window tint can reduce visibility & increase risk for everyone on the road. Slow down, follow vehicle regulations & help keep our roads safe.

🌞🏡 Warmer days mean more time spent outside working on yard projects, in garages & sheds. It’s also a time when tool & equipment thefts can happen.

There are a few ways to protect your property & equipment while you work:
🔹 Keep your garage door closed when not in use.
🔹 Lock sheds and side doors, even when you’re home or in the yard.
🔹 Don’t leave tools or valuables visible from the street.
🔹 Be aware of unfamiliar people or vehicles in your area.
🔹 Store high-value tools out of sight when not in use.

⚠️ On Saturday, May 23, 2026, at about 7 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop of a motorcycle at 52 Street & 54 Avenue S.E. for an equipment violation (no mirrors).

During the stop, we discovered the motorcycle displayed a fake (paper) licence plate & was not registered. The bike was towed.

🏍️ As Motorcycle Safety Month wraps up, we’re reminding all riders to keep themselves & others safe by ensuring your bikes are properly equipped & registered.

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 9:21 a.m., officers pulled over a Honda Ridgeline for speeding near 52 Street S.E. & Peigan Trail. The driver failed 2 Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) tests. His licence was seized & suspended for 90 days & the vehicle was towed & impounded. The driver was also speeding & operating an unregistered, uninsured vehicle.

🔴 In total, the driver was fined $4,200 in addition to losing his licence for 3 months & the vehicle for 1 month.

⚠️ Always drive sober. Make responsible choices to keep everyone on the road safe. Plan a safe ride home if you plan on drinking or using drugs.

CPS Const. Takamatsu recently made a personal visit to Sapporo, Japan. While there, he took the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Hokkaido Government & Hokkaido Prefectural Police. 🚓

💻 The visit included discussions on wildlife response, dispatch operations & policing technology, while sharing perspectives on public safety. Conversations also included interest in exploring future collaboration opportunities between our agencies. 🤝

Thank you to Const. Takamatsu for taking the initiative to help strengthen relationships & support ongoing learning in policing. 👏

👤 Meeting people online is part of our everyday lives. Unfortunately, not everyone online is who they say they are.

Sexual assault is caused by offenders who choose to exploit trust, access & connection. Sometimes, these connections can begin online & escalate offline.

If you’re meeting someone in person for the first time:
🔹 Trust your gut. Discomfort doesn’t need to be fully explained to be valid.
🔹 Be aware of who you are interacting with. Strangers online may not be truthful about their identity.
🔹 Only meet in public places.
🔹 Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going & who you are meeting.
🔹 Maintain control of transportation to & from your meeting.
🔹 Limit how much personal information you share before meeting in person.
