Last month, Calgary hosted the final District 42 Toastmasters Annual Conference, and our club was out in full force! For many of our members, it was their very first Toastmasters conference—and what an incredible weekend of growth, connection, and inspiration it turned out to be.

From sharing meals and cementing lifelong friendships to cheering on our very own Scott Arnall on the big District stage, the energy was unmatched. We are incredibly proud of Scott and all of our amazing club members who stepped up to volunteer behind the scenes!

We also brought home some amazing insights from world-class workshops, including ideas to launch a mentorship program right here in our club.

✨ A little Hollywood magic at Toastmasters last week! ✨

Sisters Joanne and Kathi transformed Table Topics into an Oscars-themed experience to remember. Joanne (aka Carol Brunette) interviewed “celebrities” on the red carpet, while Kathi (aka Meryl Streepesh) delivered creative, Oscar-style evaluations with insightful feedback.

Their creativity and energy made for a fun, engaging, and memorable evening. Grateful to have members who bring this kind of innovation to our club! 🎭🏆

Last Tuesday, our Toastmasters club held Poetry Night. This annual event is becoming a much-anticipated highlight each year because it creates such a wonderfully creative and heartfelt evening.

This year, we heard from 14 of our members, with recitals of famous poems, original works, and even the singing of cultural songs. Every contribution was unique, and every speaker brought their own voice and courage to the stage.

One poem in particular captured the familiar feelings of a Toastmaster attending our meetings. Joanne wrote this piece with some assistance from AI, and it’s a reflection that many of us can relate to.
