Deeply saddened by the news of the school shooting in Tumbring BC.
Today we stand in solidarity with the students, families, teachers, and first responders affected by this tragedy. May we come together as a community to support one another and pray for healing and strength.

On Nov. 11, Canadians come together to honour the immense sacrifices of the brave men and women who have served our country in times of war, conflict and peace. It is a solemn day of reflection, gratitude and remembrance.

This year marks 80 years since the end of the Second World War, when Canadians helped liberate the Netherlands from N**i occupation. The courage and compassion of our soldiers forged a lasting bond of friendship that endures to this day.

This year, we also reflect on other milestones that shaped our history: 110 years since John McCrae wrote In Flanders Fields, 115 years since the founding of the Royal Canadian Navy, and 170 years since the establishment of the Canadian Army. Each anniversary reminds us of the generations of Canadians who have stood ready to defend freedom at home and abroad.

Let us remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who continue to bear the heavy burdens of service. We also honour their families, whose strength and resilience embody the very best of our country.

I invite all Albertans to join me in a moment of silence to show our appreciation for Canada’s veterans and to renew our shared commitment to the freedoms they so bravely defend.

Lest we forget.

Very proud of the city of Medicine Hat, in my constituency, for putting up this crosswalk in honour of the upcoming Remembrance Day.

As we return to the Legislature, our government is focused on delivering on the mandate Albertans gave us in 2023 to stand up for this province, protect our freedoms, and chart our path forward. We will defend our constitutional rights, protect our province’s interests, and make sure decisions that affect Albertans are made by Albertans. The federal government stands at a crossroads. Work with us, and we’ll get things done. Overstep, and Alberta will stand its ground.

NEW: Alberta will be the first province to add a Canadian citizenship marker to driver’s licences and ID cards, strengthening Alberta’s election system and protecting the integrity of our democratic process by ensuring that only eligible citizens cast ballots.

This change will also give Canadian citizens in Alberta a single, secure card to access programs and services more conveniently.

The Lawrence Bishnoi Gang is a transnational criminal network responsible for violence, extortion, drug trafficking and targeted killings, including here in Canada. Its reach is global, and its intent is criminal and violent.

We know that gang activity knows no boundaries and respects no borders, and Alberta wants to send a clear message: you are not welcome here. Formally designating the Bishnoi Gang as a terrorist entity will unlock critical powers, allowing provincial and municipal-level law enforcement agencies to access the necessary tools and resources needed to effectively disrupt operations and protect our people.

The time for action is now. Alberta’s government is asking the federal government and Prime Minister join them in taking a stand and act to protect Albertans and all Canadians.

In the face of rising US tariffs and global uncertainty, Alberta is standing strong to protect our economy and defend the industries that power this province.

In response to feedback from industry leaders, we are taking decisive action to keep our businesses competitive by:

✅ Freezing Alberta’s industrial carbon tax at it’s current rate, 95 dollars per tonne
✅ Stopping the scheduled hike to $110 next year and $170 by 2030
✅ Providing certainty for energy, agriculture, petrochemicals, manufacturing, and more
✅ Preserving investment, jobs, and global competitiveness for Alberta industries
✅ Leading on emissions reduction through innovation, not unrealistically high taxes

Alberta has had a reasonable, industry-led carbon pricing system in place since 2007. This is provincial jurisdiction, and we will not needlessly burden our businesses with further increases dictated by Ottawa that would be detrimental to our economy.
