🌟 Board Spotlight: Welcome Scott Caverley 🌟

As Head of Commercial Real Estate at The Effort Trust Company, Scott brings more than 25 years of experience in real estate, development, asset management, and strategic leadership. His expertise, combined with a deep commitment to community impact, will be a tremendous asset as we continue creating pathways to affordable homeownership for local families.

Scott holds an MBA from Ivey Business School and a Chartered Director (C.Dir.) designation from McMaster University, bringing valuable governance, financial, and strategic planning experience to our Board.

At a time when housing affordability continues to challenge families across our region, we are grateful to welcome leaders who share our commitment to creating stronger communities and expanding access to affordable homeownership opportunities.

A huge thank you to Maple Reinders for rolling up their sleeves at the Milton ReStore!

Their team tackled a variety of projects, including assembling bookcases, garden planters, and cupboards, while also pricing clothing, candles, and other donated items for the sales floor. These efforts help keep our ReStore running smoothly and ensure more donated goods find a second life in our community.

Every item prepared, priced, and placed on the sales floor helps generate vital funds that support Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin's work to create pathways to affordable homeownership for local families. Through the power of our ReStores, together we are expanding access to affordable housing and helping families build a stronger future.

This National Indigenous History Month, we are honoured to recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

At Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin, we are proud to partner with the community of Bkejwanong (Walpole Island First Nation) — an unceded territory whose name means "where the waters divide." Home to the Ojibwe, Potawatomi, and Odawa peoples of the Three Fires Confederacy, Bkejwanong is a vibrant community with deep cultural roots and traditions.

This year, five Tiny Homes built by students in our Youth Skilled Trades Program are being delivered to Bkejwanong. These homes represent more than construction projects — they are the result of young people, educators, community partners, and Indigenous communities coming together to create opportunity, connection, and hope.

As we reflect on Indigenous History Month, we recognize the importance of listening, learning, and building meaningful relationships grounded in respect and collaboration.

Together, we build communities and hope.

Their combined expertise in housing, finance, technology, governance, and innovation will help strengthen our mission and support affordable homeownership opportunities across our region.
