Compassion Society of Halton

Compassion Society of Halton We respond to the needs of our community with support and connections by providing food, clothing, hygiene items and referrals.

We are NOT TAKING ANY CLOTHING DONATIONS! In a community such as Burlington, our past Mayor, Rick Goldring, has often pointed out, it is easy to forget that a great many of our citizens are suffering hardship and poverty. That's where Compassion Society of Halton steps in. From humble beginnings in Mina Wahidi's basement, Compassion Society has grown from a single rack of donated clothes to one of the major contributors to the well being of our most vulnerable citizens. With the assistance of our sponsors, donors, staff and volunteers we now help thousands of Halton's needy citizens. We continue to provide clothing, food and community service referrals to all who require these fundamentals of decent living. We demonstrate respect, confidentiality, sensitivity, inclusion, desire for social justice and well being, and transparency in our finances. We help many local men, women and children who desperately need our services and goods from time to time and often more frequently to simply help make ends meet. Compassion Society has been awarded with the Mayors award for Service in 2018. Several volunteers have been recognized for their dedication and work:

+ Jeremy Heatley (Burlington Citizen of the year 2004)
+ Julie Hellam (Burlington award for empowering women)
+ Edwin Broadus (Aldershot Honour Roll 2018)
+ Ron Hardy (Aldershot Honour Roll 2019)

A big thank you to Chante Jones (pictured delivering the kits to volunteer Erin) and her colleagues at Ulteig-Burlington for their wonderful initiative and very generous donation of filled hygiene kits for teens.

The kits were distributed through our Back to School program, which will provide teens with a healthy and confident start as they head back to class.

We truly appreciate this kind of support from Ulteig and can’t thank you enough for helping make a difference in our community! 🤝 💙

A big thank you to Lindsay Grover and the team at Elements Casino Mohawk, who very generously filled a trunk with backpacks and back-to-school supplies for our recent Back to School Drive.

Your support is greatly appreciated, and the children who received them were so excited! It’s thanks to all of our wonderful donors that these programs are possible. We couldn’t do it without you! ❤️

September is National Hunger in Action Month. Thank you Mayor Marianne Meed Ward, for raising awareness.
