National ambition, with hyper local impact ✨

This vision is at the heart of community foundations and the inspiration behind over 30 Ontario community foundations coming together for a province-wide gathering last week in Kanata.

Thank you to Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) for hosting and to Toronto Foundation, Waterloo Region Community Foundation, and the London Community Foundation for their leadership in making this inaugural gathering possible. Toronto Foundation's vision for a team bus was the cherry on top! 🚍

Through a collective response to causes, community foundations will continue to inspire sustainable philanthropy and strengthen local communities for generations to come. 🌱

🎓 Each spring, BCF works with area high schools and generous fundholders to support student education through post-secondary scholarships and awards. Last year, more than $28,000 went to students entering college and university programs.

Scholarship funds can be created by individuals, families, businesses or in memoriam. They are a meaningful way to invest in local youth as they grow into the leaders of tomorrow. 🌱

At its March Board meeting, the BCF Board of Directors unanimously passed a resolution adopting the Elect Respect pledge to help strengthen civic life and public discussion. 🌱

Elect Respect is a movement started by the Halton Elected Representatives, including Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward and other female elected representatives.

The Elect Respect pledge calls for:
✔️ Treating elected officials with respect
✔️ Focusing debate on policies and ideas and not personal attacks
✔️ Rejecting abuse and harassment
✔️ Helping build a supportive culture where everyone can run for office

Not everyone arrives at Mother's Day from the same place. Some are celebrating. Some are grieving. Some are carrying both at once. In a community like ours, we know that the full range of human experience deserves to be held, not just the highlight reel. Wishing everyone a gentle day.🌷🍃
