Please read the following information about an engagement opportunity next week for the proposed data centre at 3110 South Service Road.

We know there are a lot of questions and concerns about the proposed data centre at 3110 South Service Road here in Burlington, and residents deserve the opportunity to hear directly from the people behind the project.

Following conversations with the Ownership Group, the owners/developers have agreed to organize and voluntarily host an open house where residents can ask questions, learn more about the proposal, and hear directly from the project team.

We understand this is short notice, but the proponent faced challenges in securing an appropriate venue.

No decisions have been made. This is about listening, asking questions, and making sure residents have the information they need.

Today, we raised the flag at City Hall in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Each year, approximately 1,000 Canadian children are diagnosed with cancer. September is a time to reflect on the impact this disease has on families and to emphasize the need for increased research and awareness.

As students return to school this September, everyone has a role to play in helping make the journey to and from school safe.

Key safety reminders for students, families and road users:
✔️ Follow school zone speed limits and stay alert around schools.
✔️ Watch for children and youth walking, cycling, crossing streets and getting in and out of vehicles.
✔️ Obey crossing guard directions and come to a complete stop when students are crossing.
✔️ Know the rules for e-bikes and e-scooters, including age, helmet and permitted-use requirements.
✔️ Consider walking, cycling, and other forms of active transportation to help reduce traffic around schools and build healthy travel habits.
✔️ Use Burlington Transit as a convenient and affordable option for getting to and from school.

Help make your fellow riders' journeys more enjoyable by following these simple transit etiquette guidelines:

✔️ Keep aisles, doors and emergency exits clear.
✔️ Use headphones and keep music or phone conversations at a low volume.
✔️ During busy trips, keep backpacks and larger items close to you to allow room for others.
✔️ If you are seated in a priority seat, be ready to offer it to someone who may need it more.
✔️ Allow passengers to exit before boarding the bus.
✔️ Make space for strollers and mobility devices when needed.
✔️ Keep food, drinks and personal belongings tidy to help maintain a clean and comfortable environment.

Be kind to drivers and other riders

These small actions help support safe, accessible, and respectful transit for everyone.

Conservation Halton has issued a Water Safety Notice in effect today through Sept. 3 due to the incoming rainfall this evening. Residents are reminded to stay away from rivers, streams and other waterways, especially near fast-moving or high water.

The City's roads crews are inspecting catch basins and stormwater inlets to make sure they’re clear and able to drain water.

Here’s how you can help protect your home and community:

Keep catch basins clear – Remove leaves, garbage, and debris to prevent street flooding.
Check eavestroughs and downspouts – Ensure they’re clear and directing water away from your home.
