origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation; - Content considered to be defamatory, disrespectful or insulting to Village staff or representatives; - Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity; - Comments/posts not related to a posted article/topic/information; - Business solicitation; - Sexual content or links to sexual content; - Information about any identifiable individual (including photographs of, or information about that individual, as well as views or opinions about that individual), unless the identifiable individual provided specific, written consent to the Village in advance; - Any content deemed inappropriate by the Village of Burk’s Falls. The Village may ask users to refrain from posting inappropriate comments, or mute, block or ban users for violating these social media commenting guidelines.

This afternoon, the Village of Burk's Falls was pleased to host the 2026 Mayor's Senior Tea at the Young at Heart Senior Centre.
The event provided an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the seniors who continue to make a positive impact on our community through their volunteerism, generosity, leadership, and community spirit.
Mayor Chris Hope was honoured to recognize this year's Special Recognition recipients:
• Arlene Anderson
• Coral Mason
• Susan and Brian Darnborough
• Pat and Larry Sollman
We were also pleased to recognize the 2026 Senior of the Year nominees:
• Paul Smith
• Sheila Green
• Faye Evenden
Congratulations to Jane Bissonette, who was named the 2026 Burk's Falls Senior of the Year.
As the owner and operator of the Almaguin Donation and Thrift Store, Jane is known for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others. Through her support of individuals, families, youth, and community programs, she has made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless people throughout our community.
Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations and helped us recognize these remarkable individuals. Burk's Falls is fortunate to have so many dedicated residents who continue to make our community a better place to live.

Join us on Saturday, June 13 for the Mayor's Senior Tea as we celebrate the seniors who make our community such a special place to live.

This annual event is an opportunity to recognize and thank all seniors for their contributions, dedication, volunteerism, and community spirit.

We are proud to recognize our 2026 Senior of the Year nominees, Sheila Green, Paul Smith, and Faye Evenden, as well as our 2026 Senior of the Year, Jane Bissonette, who was chosen by the community through the nomination process.

Special recognition will also be given to Pat and Larry Solman, Susan and Brian Darnborough, Arlene Anderson, and Coral Mason for their outstanding contributions and dedication to our community.

Please join us for an afternoon of refreshments, fellowship, and celebration as we honour these remarkable individuals and all seniors who help make Burk's Falls a wonderful place to call home.
