Every year the County of Newell conducts General Property Assessment inspections for all properties located within our boundaries. The map illustrates the focus area for the 2026 inspection, with additional inspections as needed. The purpose of these inspections is to update Property Assessment information.

You may see our assessor in your yard to take pictures, measure buildings, and might even knock on your door. If the Assessor has any follow up questions, a Request for Property Information form will be emailed or mailed to the registered owners.

THE PURPOSE of proposed Bylaw No. 2135-26 is to redesignate the above-noted lands from S-PPS SPECIAL, Parks and Public Service District to A-GEN Agriculture, General District to allow for the continued use of the agriculture parcel.

THEREFORE, TAKE NOTICE THAT a public hearing to contemplate the proposed Bylaw No. 2135-26 will be held in the County of Newell Council Chambers at 11:30 a.m. on the 24th day of September 2026.

THE PURPOSE of proposed Bylaw No. 2137-26 is to redesignate the above-noted lands from A-GEN Agriculture, General District to I-GEN Industrial, General District to allow for industrial development that is ancillary to the function of Newell Regional Landfill facility.

THEREFORE, TAKE NOTICE THAT a public hearing to contemplate the proposed Bylaw No. 2137-26 will be held in the County of Newell Council Chambers at 11:30 a.m. on the 24th day of September 2026.

🔥 Fire Restriction Lifted in the County of Newell!

Improved conditions have allowed the Newell Regional Fire Chief to lift the Fire Restriction for the County of Newell. Fire Guardians may now issue new fire permits.

âť—Please remember, a signed fire permit is required before lighting a fire. Permit holders must contact their local Fire Department before lighting. All permit conditions must be followed. Failure to comply may result in fines.

Fire permits are available during regular business hours in person or by phone through the County office, or online > https://countyofnewell.ab.ca/permits

This notice applies only to the County of Newell and does not include the City of Brooks, Town of Bassano, villages of Duchess or Rosemary, provincial parks or First Nations reserves.

You’ll help with gravel hauling and road resurfacing, snow and ice removal, equipment hauling and other Public Works operations throughout the County.
