💚 Growing Our Volunteer Community 💚

Community Health Boards are stronger when more voices are at the table.

We’ve been exploring volunteer recruitment and engagement—what helps people get involved, what barriers exist, and how we can make participation more welcoming and accessible for everyone. We’re especially excited about growing interest from youth, including high school and college/university students, and building connections through things like lunch & learns and volunteer fairs.

If you’ve ever thought, “I care about my community, but I’m not sure where I fit,” you’re not alone. There’s a place for everyone—whether you can give a little time or a lot. Every contribution truly makes a difference.

Curious about volunteering? Send us a message or keep an eye on this page for ways to get involved!

If you are interested or wanting to learn more you can contact Becky McManus-Cyna - [email protected] or send me a message via messenger.

Flood waters are deceptive and deadly—NEVER underestimate them:
Just 6 inches of fast-moving water can knock an adult off their feet.

12 inches can sweep away most cars.

2 feet of rushing water can carry off SUVs and trucks.

More than half of all flood-related deaths happen when people drive into flooded roads. Roads may be washed out underneath, hidden debris or downed power lines can lurk below the surface, and currents are far stronger than they appear—especially in our local rivers and brooks.

Never drive through flooded roads—find another route.
Never walk, swim, or let kids play in flood waters.
Avoid low-lying areas near streams, brooks, or riverbanks.
If your vehicle stalls in rising water, get out immediately and head to higher ground.

Your safety is our priority. If you're in danger or see someone in trouble, call 911 right away—we're here to help with water rescues when needed.
Stay alert, stay dry, and stay safe! 💧🚒

Winter layers can make car seats tricky! Keep little ones warm and safe with these quick cold weather car and booster seat tips.

• Bulky winter clothing is unsafe in car seats. Snowsuits, puffy coats and bunting bags can compress in a crash, making the harness too loose and increasing the risk of injury.
• Dress children in thin, snug layers under the harness. Use fleece and other slim layers, plus hats, mitts and boots. Add blankets over the straps once your child is buckled, or put their coat on backward over their arms to help them stay warm.
• Bulky coats can change how the seat belt fits. For older children in booster seats, unzip coats so the lap belt stays low on the hips and the shoulder belt fits snug across the chest.
• For infants, only use covers that go over the car seat. Avoid inserts or padding not provided by the manufacturer. A showercap style cover can help keep babies warm.

Always charge devices with lithium-ion batteries on a hard, flat surface such as a table or counter. Charging on soft surfaces like a bed or couch can trap heat and start a fire.
