Last month Brooke Fire Rescue hosted an open house along with our friends from the OPP. The 4H Cloverbuds got to see what we carry on our fire trucks, participate in a firefighter obstacle course and learn how to operate a fire extinguisher. 🧯 They all PASSed! They all got to see the inside of a police vehicle and ensured us that will be the only time! 😂 🚓 Thank you so much to the firefighters, police officers and parent volunteers that helped that night!

💬
Q: I’m a renter. Do the smoke alarm rules and the new 2026 carbon monoxide (CO) alarm rules apply to me?
A: Yes.

Landlords must install smoke alarms on every level and outside all sleeping areas and they must install CO alarms that meet the new 2026 requirements, maintain and test them yearly, and give tenants the alarm’s maintenance instructions.

Tenants also have responsibilities:
• report any issues
• never disable or remove the alarm (it’s against the law)
CO alarms save lives—and in rentals, fire safety is a shared job.

Can you find the fire hydrant in these pictures?

Hidden or obstructed fire hydrants can pose a danger to your family, neighbours, and responding firefighters. When firefighters respond to an emergency, every second counts. A fire hydrant hidden by fences, shrubs, or other landscaping can delay access to a critical water supply.

If there is a fire hydrant on or near your property, help keep it visible and accessible by keeping the area around it clear. A few minutes of yard maintenance can make a big difference during an emergency.

The Lambton EMS Cool Aid Program helps make important medical information quickly available during an emergency.

The magnetized, folded Cool Aid card is kept right on your fridge and contains important details like medical conditions, medications, allergies, and emergency contacts. Paramedics know to look for the Cool Aid card when entering a home, helping provide critical information if a patient is unable to speak for themselves.

A simple tool that can make a big difference when every second counts. 💙
