THIS IS A PROUD MOMENT.

During a recent Junior Fire Camp in Central Ontario, one camper drew Beepa and gave us a great reminder of why we at the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council brought Beepa to life in the first place.

Beepa is more than a mascot. It is a walking, talking public education tool, helping kids connect with the importance of working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in a way they can see, hear and remember. One twist, and Beepa's nose comes off to reveal a working Kidde Canada combination smoke and CO alarm.

Seeing kids recognize Beepa and connect him with fire and CO safety is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of.

A HUGE thank you to Call2Recycle for supporting FMPFSC’s Fire Prevention Week 2026 Kits 🔋♻️

Through this initiative, Call2Recycle has generously donated 50 battery recycling boxes to every FMPFSC FPW 2026 Kit, at no extra cost to fire departments!

These boxes are a great way for fire departments to start conversations about safe battery recycling as part of their public education efforts.

We truly appreciate Call2Recycle’s support and commitment to helping fire departments educate their communities about the importance of battery recycling. Thank you for helping us make this initiative possible! 💚

We honour the firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics and countless other first responders who put themselves in harm’s way to protect others, many making the ultimate sacrifice.

Their bravery continues to remind us of the dedication and courage of those who serve, including the first responders who answer the call each and every day.

Your landlord must provide working smoke alarms outside all sleeping areas and on every storey. Your landlord must give you a copy of the alarm maintenance instructions.

🔥 FIRE HAZARDS CAN BE HIDING IN EVERYDAY PRODUCTS

Two new Health Canada recalls are reminding us that fire safety isn’t just about what happens in the kitchen.

⚠️ Amana Through-the-Wall Air Conditioner/Heat Pump has been recalled because a component can short and emit flames.
⚠️OCOOPA Rechargeable Hand Warmer has also been recalled because its lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite.

With more everyday products powered by electricity and lithium-ion batteries, it’s important to stay informed and know the warning signs. ⚠️

Stay safer at home:
✔️ Check Health Canada’s recall alerts regularly
✔️ Stop using products that have been recalled
✔️ Never ignore unusual heat, swelling, smoke, burning smells or sparks
✔️ Follow the manufacturer’s charging and use instructions
✔️ Keep lithium-ion batteries away from extreme heat and anything that can catch fire
✔️ Dispose of recalled lithium-ion battery products through your municipality’s hazardous-waste program; never put them in household garbage!
✔️ Make sure your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms are working

A recall can happen to a product you use every day. Knowing what’s in your home and acting when something is recalled can help prevent a fire before it starts. 🏠🔥
