⚠️ Paving of the base course asphalt, as part of the ongoing rehabilitation of County Road 7 between Kitley Line 8 and Atkins Lake Road (approximately 2.5 km).

Please note that all dates are subject to change based on weather conditions and construction progress.

Motorists should expect traffic delays and disruptions throughout the construction area and are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible.

𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀

It’s that time of year when turtles are on the move, and many are crossing our roads. Unlike other animals, turtles move slowly, which means they’re especially vulnerable. They’re easy to avoid when you’re driving at a reasonable speed and looking ahead. Driving carefully isn’t just safer for turtles, it’s safer for you and your family, too!

✅ If you see a turtle on the road:
• Always put your own safety first before stopping.
• If it’s safe, gently move the turtle in the direction it was heading.
• Handle the turtle as little as possible and step back once it’s safely off the road.

⚠️ A note about snapping turtles:
• Keep a safe distance from their head. They can snap if they feel threatened.
• Only help if you feel comfortable doing so.

💚 If a turtle is injured:
• Place it in a dry container.
• Note the exact location where it was found.
• Contact the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre at 705-741-5000 (option 9).

𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 | 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚. 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is providing a new update on the G. Tackaberry and Family Long-Term Care Home in Athens.

The home has now successfully passed S1001 certification testing. This national standard confirms that all fire and safety systems are properly connected and working as designed. This step is critical to ensure the safety of future residents and staff.

With this testing complete, the home has now received its full unconditional occupancy permit.

The next step is working closely with the Ministry of Long-Term Care to complete the final approval process. This includes both virtual and in-person inspections. These reviews are required before residents can move into the home. Although the virtual inspection is tentatively scheduled for next week, these inspections are very extensive and may identify items that require correction or updates, which can add time to the process.

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is piloting a new Affordable Mixed-Income Rental Housing program, offering one-bedroom apartments at six County-owned buildings across the region.

This program blends rent-geared-to-income and affordable housing units to create more choices for eligible households.

📍 Available communities:
• Cardinal • Spencerville • Lansdowne • Westport • Merrickville

✅ Eligibility highlights:
• Household income between $46,001–$60,000
• At least 16 years old and able to live independently
• Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• No money owed to a social housing provider in Ontario
• Positive rental history and credit report

Occupancy standards apply to determine suitable unit size.
