Congratulations to Michael and Tieran!

We appreciate all of our student staff, we wouldn't be able to run this park without the hardwork and dedication of our entire team!

The Friends of Presqu’ile sponsor two annual bursaries for student employees at Presqu'ile Provincial Park. Their purpose is two-fold:
🏆to recognize exceptional employees
🎓to promote post-secondary education in college, university or skilled trades

✹Student Bursary
This year’s winner is gate attendant, Michael Kowal. Michael received multiple nominations all noting his dedication. He consistently goes beyond his duties to support visitors, colleagues, and day-to-day operations. As a seasonal resident, Michael uses his extensive park knowledge to deliver outstanding visitor service, always ready to quickly guide guests.
Michael’s contributions extend far beyond front-line customer service. He is quick to offer assistance to other departments. His sharp attention to detail, his knowledge of park policies, operations, special programs, and computer systems have made him a huge asset to his co-workers and managers.
Michael is heading to Niagara College to study television and broadcasting. Best of luck with your studies, Michael.

✹Career Bursary
Tieran Tsokos is the recipient of the 2026 Career Bursary, awarded to a seasonal employee following a course of study leading to a potential career in Ontario Parks.
Tieran is entering the third year of a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Laurentian University. He plans to use his training to focus on the business side of park management – strategic planning, budgeting, financial management, and operational management. These areas work hand in hand with the natural environment, recreational opportunities, and educational programs offered to park visitors.
In a letter of recommendation, Tieran’s supervisor spoke of how Tieran has exemplified professionalism, integrity, leadership potential, and teamwork. He has earned the respect of his co-workers and supervisors through his dedication and outstanding performance. His exceptional work ethic and positive attitude bode well for a successful future. Have a great year, Tieran!
