Call Directions Contact the organization

Lunenburg County Seniors Safety Program A community-based program that addresses the safety concerns of our seniors. It is one of 16 Seniors’ Safety Programs operating in Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Lunenburg County Seniors’ Safety Program operates under the sponsorship of the Lunenburg County Seniors’ Safety Partnership Society, and is housed in the offices of Bridgewater Police Service. The program is designed to address senior’s safety concerns, reduce incidences of elder abuse, and promote better communication between seniors and police. Services are offered to seniors in their homes and in the community. To ensure that all seniors can participate in our services, programs are typically offered at no cost. With the advice of seniors and our partners, we identify gaps in services and endeavor to fill those gaps with effective programs or awareness campaigns. Programs offered include:

1) Home visits

2) Seniors Safety Academy

3) Living Alone series

4) Seniors Safe Driving programs

5. Community presentations on safety-related topics

6) Vial of LifeTM

7. Senior Friendly ProgramTM

The program is also committed to work with community partners to address emerging issues (such as managing dementia and driving cessation) and to collaborate on inter-generational activities. If you or someone you care about needs our services, don't hesitate to call. To contact the Lunenburg County Seniors’ Safety Coordinator please call: (902) 543-3567.

🧡 THIS THANKSGIVING, TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK ABOUT THE SENIORS AROUND YOUR TABLE.

The stories you’ve heard a hundred times.

The traditions they started.

The sacrifices they made.

The people they raised.

The communities they helped build.

The dreams they may have put aside while caring for everyone else.

This Thanksgiving, while you’re gathered together, take a moment to ask them what they’ve always wanted to do.

What’s something they’ve always dreamed of experiencing?

Where would they love to go?

What would they love to see, learn, try or share with the people they love?

Then, nominate them for a wish 💙

Because sometimes the person sitting across the Thanksgiving table has spent a lifetime making everyone else’s dreams possible.

Maybe it’s time someone made one of theirs possible.

👉 Nominate a senior at https://www.weareyoung.ca/submit-a-wish

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at We Are Young 🧡
