Deputy Chief Dean Schmeisser steps forward.

His mission:
Take a pie in the eye for the Tim Hortons Camp Day Foundation on July 15th.

His goal: raise money for the kids.
Our goal: capture the moment that pie makes contact at approximately Mach 3.

We salute his bravery.
We applaud his commitment.
We also fully intend to replay the footage in slow motion at all Dayspring functions going forward 😉

We’re proud of him.
We’re cheering for him.

The members of the Dayspring & District Fire Department extend our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters of the Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department on the line‑of‑duty death of Firefighter Alexandru Uichita.

We honour his courage, his service, and his commitment to protecting his community. Our thoughts are with his family, his fellow firefighters, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss.

Edit: The pylons have been returned! The power of social media is undefeated! We have removed the description of the person and vehicle and appreciate their return. We hope the pylons enjoyed their night out on the town. The other pylons are a bit jealous.

To the person who decided to “adopt” a few of our orange pylons at Beck Lake on Crouses Settlement Road in Upper LaHave Nova Scotia today around 3:00 p.m., the Dayspring and District Volunteer Fire Department would appreciate their safe return.

A witness did see the unexpected pylon relocation project taking place, and while we’d prefer not to launch a full-scale CSI investigation into missing traffic cones, we are asking that they be returned to our station.

Alternatively, if they are looking for other excitement, community service hours, and access to many more pylons, we’d be happy to provide them with an application to join the department. 🚒

Thank you to all the incredible vendors and every member of the public who came out in the rain to support the Spring Market at the fire hall today. Despite the weather, you showed up with smiles, umbrellas, and amazing community spirit. Your presence turned a grey, soggy day into a bright and successful event.
