Bookmobile Schedule Change, Effective June 30
The Bookmobile schedule is changing. To accommodate new stops and in light of the addition of the Zoé Vallé Library to the SSPL family we’re moving from a 3-week rotation to a 2-week rotation.
This means the Bookmobile will visit many communities more often, some on new dates and times. Please check the updated schedule carefully to find your stop's day and time.
The new schedule also includes visits to more rural schools and a daycare centre, helping put books directly into the hands of children and supporting early literacy and a lifelong love of reading.
Thank you for your patience and support as we make these changes to expand access to books and library services across the South Shore.

Here are our Five Reasons to Read: Pick a Colour by Souvankham Thammavongsa!

1. This is a fascinating look at loneliness, labour, love, and class

2. It won the Giller Prize in 2025!

3. It's a short, yet powerful read

4. I adored the dialogue between the salon workers, taking back their power through language

5. I will now always second guess myself when I get a manicure or pedicure, when asked to pick a colour

Rani Choudhury Must Die by Adiba Jaigirdar was a fun story; friends to enemies to rivals to friends to...? While I felt maybe a bit too old for this one, it is an excellent young adult read. It's about once friends, now enemies, Rani and Meghna and how they deal with the fact that both of their their boyfriends is actually the same person. He's been cheating on both of them, for different reasons, so they team up to beat him at the big science exhibition.

I appreciated the look at culture and how that plays into expectations, in school achievements, relationships, society, and more. And how challenging it can be to be a part of a small community, and to be the first generation of your community to be growing up in a different culture from what your parents grew up with.

Overall, a fun, light read!

Here are our Five Reasons to Read: The Forest of Stolen Girls by June Hur!

1. This is a haunting, historical mystery

2. Set in 1426 Joseon (Korea), it's a fascinating look at that culture

3. Hur has done an amazing job of writing a mystery that seamlessly blends in with the historical setting

4. It is an intergenerational mystery, where Hwani sets out to solve the disappearance of her father, but ends up solving the same mystery that he was investigating

5. It was great to learn more about this region and time period, as it was previously wholly unknown to me
