A huge thank you to all the Rachel Reid fans and library supporters who lined up this morning to get tickets for Heating Up Lunenburg fundraiser!
We're especially grateful to everyone who braved an early start—including these two dedicated super fans from Dartmouth, who spent the night in the parking lot to be first in line.
The response to this fundraiser has been incredible, and we're so thankful for the enthusiasm and support for both Rachel Reid and South Shore Public Libraries.
To those who weren't able to get tickets this time, we're sorry we couldn't accommodate everyone and appreciate your understanding.
Thank you for helping us celebrate reading, discovering, learning, and sharing—and for supporting your local library.

Moon of the Turning Leaves by Waubgeshig Rice is the continuation of Moon of the Crusted Snow. It's been twelve years since the events in the first book took place, and we find Evan Whitesky and his community living well off of the land, however, they are starting to run out of supplies and must look for a new home.

A group decide to travel South, to an area that was the ancestral home of the Anishinaabe. It's a dangerous journey, but necessary.

I really liked having this follow up, to see how these people that I came to care about in Moon of the Crusted Snow were doing. I also thought that the events that take place in this book are quite realistic. Obviously we've never had a massive blackout and complete eroding of society, but the people that Evan and his group encounter seem all too real.

Really great sequel and I'm hoping that Rice decides to write more about this group!

1. This is a beautifully written book, retellings of Anishinaabeg stories

2. The illustrations by Amanda Strong really bring the stories to life

3. This is a perfect book to dip in and out of, allowing time for reflection

All the Little Monsters by David A Robertson was such a great book! Robertson shared some really vulnerable parts of his history and mental health, and it was incredibly powerful to hear someone talking about their struggles like this.

I especially appreciated how Robertson repeatedly speaks about what works *for him* and the strategies that he uses, and that while there are similarities between people who live with various mental health struggles, the way that you learn to live with them is very individual, and that what works for him may not work for you and vice versa.

Really great read, highly recommend.
