Eddie is hard at work at Victim Services, providing comfort, calm, and unconditional support to those who need it most. Sometimes the job looks like listening quietly… sometimes it looks like being a warm, safe presence… and sometimes it means taking a well-earned rest while staying close.

Service doesn’t always have to be loud to make a difference.

Today, the Ontario government introduced the Protect Ontario Through Safer Streets and Stronger Communities Act — a significant step forward in safeguarding victims of intimate partner violence, protecting children, and supporting survivors of human trafficking.

As a network committed to ensuring survivors have access to compassionate, coordinated support, ONVSP welcomes:

✅ Strengthened restraining order provisions
✅ Inclusion of child s*x traffickers on the Ontario S*x Offender Registry
✅ Tools for police to investigate trafficking in hotels and short-term rentals
✅ Implementation of the Protection from Coerced Debts Act
✅ A renewed Anti-Human Trafficking Strategy with $345M in investments

These reforms align with the daily front-line work of Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario (VCAO) organizations across Ontario and recognize the urgency of safety, justice, and wraparound care for survivors.

We look forward to continued collaboration with MCCSS, MAG, and community partners as these measures are implemented.
