Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the 2nd Annual Inflatable Race hosted by the Brantford Station Neighbourhood Association at City View Park and what a fantastic community event it was!

There was something for everyone: lawn games, face painting, prizes, and of course, the inflatable race for both kids and adults.

From inflatable dinosaurs and capybaras to a chipmunk, aliens, wacky inflatable tube men, Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and more!

This event brought families, neighbours, and community members together in such a fun and welcoming way. It was a joy to see so many smiles, hear so much laughter, and celebrate the kind of grassroots community spirit that helps our city thrive.

It was wonderful to hear that Alex raised $158.75 for Camp BUCKO & Life After Burns at his lemonade stand!

A big thank you to the Brantford Station Neighbourhood Association and everyone who helped make this event such a success. I had such a wonderful time, and I already can’t wait to attend again next year!

I had the opportunity to attend Nova Vita Brant’s Blooms of Hope event.

💐

It was a beautiful afternoon that brought people together through conversation, education, creativity, and community support. From sharing tea and creating bouquets to learning how we can better support those experiencing abuse, the event was a powerful reminder of how much connection matters.

What stood out most was hearing about the incredible work Nova Vita does every day. Through education, advocacy, prevention, and critical support services, they are helping people navigate some of life’s most difficult moments with dignity, compassion, and hope.

Organizations like Nova Vita are a big part of what makes Brantford such a strong and caring community. Their impact reaches far beyond the individuals they directly support. They help create a safer, healthier, and more connected city for all of us.

Events like Blooms of Hope show that creating a stronger community is something we all have a role in. It takes residents, businesses, volunteers, community organizations, healthcare providers, educators, and government working together to support one another and address the challenges we face.

As Mayor, I will continue to be a strong partner to the organizations, non-profits, and community groups that are doing this important work every day. By listening, collaborating, and supporting community-led solutions, we can continue building a Brantford where everyone feels supported, connected, and empowered to thrive.

Thank you to Nova Vita, the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who attended for making this event such a meaningful success.

This afternoon I attended Herinninger, a musical written by Brantford resident Vincent Ball, with music by Will Prinzen Tulips and Maples

Presented by Brant Theatre Workshops at the Canadian Military Heritage Museum, this was a meaningful production about Dutch memories, shared through local storytelling, music, and community talent.

On the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day invasion, which helped lead to the liberation of Holland and the end of the Second World War, the performance was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy today.

It was wonderful to see Brantford talent bringing history to life in such a heartfelt way.

Lest we forget.

Last weekend I had the chance to attend the Branlyn Neighbourhood Association Family Fun Day with some friends!

🎈

What stood out most wasn’t any one activity. It was seeing neighbours connect. Kids making new friends, families spending time together, and people simply enjoying a sunny spring day in their community.

It was also nice to have people stop to chat, catch up, and connect over the things that matter most in their neighbourhood.

Having been part of neighbourhood associations for many years, events like this always remind me why they matter. They help bring people together, strengthen community connections, and create a sense of belonging.

If you’re looking for a way to get involved with your community, start by reaching out to your local neighbourhood association.

A big thank you to the Branlyn Neighbourhood Association for organizing such a wonderful day.

Yesterday, my day started in the Henderson survey, where I spent the morning checking out yard sales and catching up with great people.

☀️

What I enjoy most about mornings like that are the conversations.

Hearing what’s on people’s minds, what they love about their neighbourhood, and where they see opportunities to make things even better.

I’m looking forward to coming back and continuing those conversations with even more residents in the weeks ahead.

Later, I stopped by Altitude Coffee Roasters for a coffee and to pick up one of the beautiful bouquets from Belle Florals-Brantford in support of Hope, Abbey, their family and Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

Seeing so many people come together for a local family amazing!

Whether it was buying a coffee, making a donation, walking a lap, or simply showing up, every act of support was appreciated.

Thank you to Jim, the Altitude team, Belle Florals, and everyone who helped make the day so special.

💜💛

Our City. Our Future.
This is more than a campaign slogan.

It is a reminder that Brantford’s future belongs to the people who call it home.

As our city grows, we have an opportunity to carry forward what makes Brantford special while building what our community needs next: neighbourhoods built around connection, community, and quality of life, a more affordable city, thoughtful growth, vibrant public spaces, and leadership that listens.

Our campaign is rooted in a simple belief: real people should be at the centre of every decision.

Because this is our city.

And together, we can shape our future.

Join neighbours across Brantford who are ready to build something positive together.

Whether you knock on doors, put up a sign, share the campaign, or simply start a conversation, every bit of support helps.

This is our city, and this campaign is powered by people like you.

Be part of what comes next!

I had such a wonderful afternoon at Aspira Brants Landing Retirement Living filled with music, dancing, laughter, and great community spirit! Even the rain outside couldn’t put a damper on the energy indoors.

🤠

One of the highlights for me was seeing the talented young singers perform. Their confidence, enthusiasm, and beautiful voices truly lit up the room and brought so much joy to everyone there.

And yes… I even took to the dance floor and joined in on some of the line dancing!

After watching the energy and enthusiasm from Team STOMPtastic, along with all of the other dancers and performers throughout the afternoon, it was impossible not to join the fun.

A huge thank you to Joan Minnery, everyone who helped organize, performed, volunteered, and welcomed us so warmly.

The arts are incredibly important to Brantford. They create pride in our community, opportunities for people to grow in confidence and creativity, and moments of joy that bring people together across generations.

A strong local arts community helps make Brantford not just a place where people live, but a place where people truly feel connected and inspired.

The Hospital Bed Races were over in a flash today, literally!

🏁

By the time we arrived, the races had already wrapped up much faster than organizers expected, but it was still great to be there to see the winning teams and celebrate everyone who took part in support of Brant Community Healthcare System!

Congratulations to:
🚒 Brantford Professional Fire Fighters for the fastest time

💙 Code Blue Crew from the BCHS Emergency Department for being the top fundraising team

🧹 Dust Bunnies from BCHS Environmental Services for best dressed

Most importantly, the event raised an incredible $120,000 (and counting!), with donations being matched to support local healthcare in our community!

A huge thank you to all the organizers, participants, volunteers, sponsors, and donors who made today such a success.

Events like this show the incredible community spirit we have here in Brantford!

Stopped by the Brantford Garden Club plant sale and picked up this beautiful Sedum!

🌿

What I love about events like this is how they bring people together.

Neighbours sharing advice, volunteers giving their time, and local groups helping keep community traditions strong.

The Brantford Garden Club has been part of our community for generations, and it’s amazing to see so many people continuing that tradition and passion for gardening.

Thank you to Robin (president) and the entire team who helped organize another great plant sale!
