The Brampton Professional Fire Fighters Association and the Peel Paramedic Association are hosting a charity car wash on Friday, Aug. 14, in support of Make-A-Wish Canada.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 370 Kennedy Rd. S., in Brampton. The associations hope to surpass their fundraising target of $5,000.
Along with the car wash, firefighter teams will be on site to share information and resources about fire safety and prevention.
Peel paramedic’s public relations team will also be there to give visitors an opportunity to tour ambulances. A fire truck will be available for attendees to explore, according to Akhil Mooken, a firefighter and charity and community events co-ordinator with the Brampton Professional Fire Fighters Association.
The fundraiser aims to support critically ill children through Make-A-Wish.
About 15 to 20 volunteers from the two associations will be present. The group will include firefighters and paramedics, as well as students from local schools who are interested in pursuing careers as future paramedics and firefighters, said Mooken.
“In Brampton alone there’s over 30 wishes waiting to be fulfilled for critically ill children so as both Peel Paramedic Association and then the Brampton Professional Fire Fighters Association, we’re coming together to try to do our part to help fulfil as many of those wishes as possible to help improve the life of a critically ill child.”
