At Flame‑Tamer, our cylinder inspection & testing procedures follow the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) standards recognized across Canada through CSA specifications and UN pressurized‑receptacle requirements.
CGA also supports NFPA‑10 Chapter 8, which guides gauge accuracy, readability, and calibration for all low‑pressure extinguisher testing.
CGA standards were developed with cylinder manufacturers to outline requirements for steel and aluminum cylinders, including 3A, 3AA, 3AM, & 3AAM manufacturing processes. These standards define critical inspection criteria such as corrosion limits, pitting allowances, and pre‑filling inspection requirements, ensuring every cylinder meets safety expectations before testing or filling.

🔥Pre‑inspection procedures follow CGA C‑6 (steel) and CGA C‑6.1 (aluminum), ensuring cylinders meet all structural and corrosion requirements before filling.
🔥Low‑Pressure Fire Extinguisher Hydrostatic Testing
🔥Testing must comply with CGA C‑1 – Method of Hydrostatic Testing, along with NFPA‑10 Chapter 8 requirements for gauge accuracy (0.05% overall), readability (1% increments), and calibration every six months.
🔥High‑Pressure Water‑Jacket Testing
🔥Governed by Transport Canada, requiring CGA C‑1 plus any additional CGA standards relevant to the cylinder type being tested.
