Parts of Bracebridge are experiencing power outages.

At Hydro One, your safety is our priority. The ground around downed power lines may be electrified. Stay at least 10 metres away from downed lines and call 911 and your local utility provider immediately. Safety starts with you.

Environment and Climate Change has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Bracebridge.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail.

What:
Wind gusts up to 90 km/h.
Hail up to toonie-sized.

When:
This afternoon into this evening.

Local utility outages are possible. Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible. There is a risk of injury.

When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Secure loose objects.

During a thunderstorm, go indoors and stay away from windows. If you are driving, stay in the vehicle, pull over and stay away from tall objects that could fall.

After the last rumble of thunder, stay inside for at least 30 minutes and stay at least 10 m away from any downed power lines.

The Town of Bracebridge will replace the Purbrook Road bridge this summer, an important piece of infrastructure serving residents and seasonal properties in the area.

Construction is anticipated to begin in July 2026, with completion by the end of October.
