Metro Vancouver: Board Governance Review

Metro Vancouver is looking for input on its Board size and structure. Deloitte’s Board Governance Review report (2025) found that the existing governance model has served the region well, but there is room for improvement.

Public engagement runs from May 6 to June 14, 2026.

All feedback will be provided to the Metro Vancouver Boards for discussion in July 2026 and help inform decisions on the proposed changes.

Bowen Island Municipality Launches Citizen Portal

New online platform makes it easier than ever for residents to submit and track service requests.

Bowen Island Municipality (BIM) is pleased to announce the launch of its new Citizen Portal, a streamlined digital platform designed to improve how residents connect with municipal services.

Through the Citizen Portal, residents can quickly and easily report problems or submit service requests related to public works and other municipal services. Using simple, topic-based online forms, users can log issues such as potholes, drainage concerns, water service interruptions, signage damage, or maintenance needs in parks and public spaces. Each request is automatically routed to the appropriate department, helping ensure faster response times and more efficient service.

UPDATE: We have been advised that the incident has ended and normal traffic flow has resumed.

Bowen Island Municipality is aware of a police incident that has taken place at the corner of Adams and Buchanan Road.

We have been advised by the RCMP that there is no danger to the public.

Traffic flow is reduced to a single lane and traffic control personnel are on-site directing traffic.

Please avoid the area if possible and allow extra time to travel through.

We’re so proud to share that our very own Steve Edwards has been recognized as FireSmart BC’s Wildfire Mitigation Specialist (WMS) of the Month!

Steve serves as Bowen's FireSmart Program Coordinator and brings 17 years of structural firefighting experience to his work. Since stepping into the role in April 2025, he’s done an amazing job supporting residents in taking meaningful action to reduce wildfire risk.

One great example is the free green waste disposal bin at Fire Hall #2, making it easier for islanders to safely dispose of vegetation after completing mitigation work on their properties.

Congratulations, Steve, and thank you for the important work you do to help keep our community safer!
