Monday night's practice was spent out in our training compound working on heavy extrication training. Members worked on an underride scenario with a vehicle under a school bus. It was a great training night of stabilization and lifting!

Training for this week was focused on Medical First Response. Our members reviewed protocols and procedures for treating heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The evening was finished off with High Performance CPR.

At 2:25PM, BIFD was dispatched to a two vehicle collision in Bow Island in Hwy #3. Rescue 1, Engine 1, and Command 1 responded. Once on scene our firefighters provided scene stabilization and traffic control. One patient was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
As of 4:00PM, all units were back in service.

Relay pumping is a tactic used when there is a long distance between the nearest fire hydrant and the fire scene. For training this week, our firefighters set up a relay pumping scenario and worked on the coordination and techniques to flow water over long distances.

Monday night's practice was a good refresher of some fundamental fire fighting skills. Our members spent the evening forcing doors, tying knots and hoisting tools, and throwing ground ladders.

At 2:15PM, BIFD was dispatched to a two vehicle collision in Bow Island. Engine 2, Rescue 3 and Command 1 responded. Once on scene, firefighters found a minor collision with minimal damage to both vehicles.
As the units were clearing the scene, BIFD was dispatched to a second motor vehicle collision on Hwy #3 and RR 92. Burdett Fire/Rescue was tagged onto the call for mutual aid.
Once our crews arrived on scene, firefighters provided patient care and traffic control. No injuries were reported, and all units were back in service by 4:30PM.
