Ladder 3 went and participated in show and tell with the daycare. The kids learned about fire safety and got to check out the ladder truck 🚒🔥

From Amanda: Here's a reflection of my experience since 2013..🔥
It all started with a guy named Scotty.
Scotty once told me "Women can't be firefighters."
Don't be Scotty.
Challenge accepted.
That night, I handed in my application to the Turner Valley Fire Department.
Within a couple days, I had my interview and shook hands with my new family.
Went back to Scotty and said.. "yes, yes they can. I am now on the fire department."
Perhaps I joined for the wrong reasons, but it drove me to work my butt off!
We have to prove we can do the job and do it well.
With this fire department, I didn't have to prove my worth, they accepted me with open arms and walked me through the skills and training required for the job. After years of courses and training, I finally got my Level 1 Firefighter. I am so proud of having this and thankful for the hall for pushing me to get here!
If there is one thing I wish to leave the department with, is family.
FireFam is so important. First off, thank you to our significant others for supporting us and always allowing us to go and do this job/hobby. We couldn't do this without you guys!
Some of the most important people in my life, came from this fire hall.
We go through some of the toughest times together, we fight hard together, we share life events together and we calm the storm for each other.
You step foot into this hall and you're welcomed with open arms.
It's scary, it's intimidating, nerve wracking and cool at first, then you go on calls and the scare becomes exhilarating, that intimidation becomes motivation, those nerves become your drive and the cool becomes WICKED!
I have grown so much and gained a lot of life experience throughout this wild adventure.
My passion for public education will never fade and I feel so rewarded to have gotten the opportunity to work with some incredible partners throughout the years to create this foundation. Teaching children and the community of fire safety and prevention was a lot of fun. Some of my favorite days were having the littles come to the hall to Stop, Drop and Roll with me!
I will miss this a lot.
I will miss the adventures with the crew a lot. I will also miss meeting and working with other departments in the area as well! Some incredible friends I've created throught this journey!

I am thankful. I am proud. It's been a wild run Turner Valley Fire Department , thank you for having me.
