On May 26 2026 at 2:33PM, Birch Hills Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a brush fire in the Rural Municipality of Invergorden. Upon arrival crews found an approximately 1 Hectare fire burning in a bush line. The fire was quickly contained by members. Crews put out hotspots for several hours after. Back in service at 8:53PM. No injuries or structure loss to report. The cause of this fire was determined to be a powerline contacting trees.

Thank you to Muskoday Volunteer Fire Department for your assistance on this call.

As a reminder we ask that the public allow us room to work, it creates more issues for crews on scene when we have members of the public driving around our apparatus etc. just to take pictures. Please allow our crews to do their job.

On May 22 2026 at 5:01PM Birch Hills Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a seeder vs. Power pole in the RM of Invergorden. Upon arrival crews found a Seeder had contacted a power pole and snapped the top of the power pole off leading to a power line resting on the seeder tank. The occupant was advised to stay inside the tractor until saskpower could remove the line from the machine. Crews maintained the scene until this was complete and the occupant was safe. Back in service at 6:47PM.

We would like to stress the importance of remaining in your vehicle if you contact a power line. In this situation the occupant did the right thing and remained in their vehicle until crews could arrive. Please be careful around power lines this time of year.

Congratulations to Tim and Corey on receiving your Premier commendation Medals this morning. These two went up north to assist with the northern fires last summer with another department and spent a considerable amount of time there helping defend communities. Corey recently joined our department and Tim has spent the last nearly 10 years with us and these two have went above and beyond helping our department in any way they can and being involved in our community and surrounding areas. Congratulations gentlemen and congratulations to the other firefighters recognized!
