This weekend was a busy one around Kings West, with communities all around hosting events. Today, I had the chance to attend a fundraising concert in Waterville for Don Yorke, of Black Rock! Don has been battling some illness in the hospital and proceeds from today will go a long way toward helping him and wife Sylvia during his recovery. It was wonderful to see such a good crowd out to support! After that I travelled to Greenwood for the closing concert of the Greenwood Military Wives Choir. They sounded amazing and it was very uplifting. I’ve had the honour of sharing the stage with these ladies at other events, and the love they have for singing and each other is beautiful to see! Today was a reminder that music and community can give so much, both to those attending and those performing! We are blessed to have so much talent here in our Valley!

Yesterday, in between a busy day of events and meetings, I had the privilege of dropping by Fundy Villa in Berwick, to visit with Phyllis Nix, who on Friday turned 103 years young!! We had a few good laughs and had a chance to speak about all she’s seen in her incredible lifetime! Please join me in wishing Phyllis a very happy birthday!!

Lots of great bargains today at the Waterville Fire Hall as the annual Yard Sale for the Waterville Baptist Church is happening til 1 PM.

Yesterday I joined my colleague Dave Bowlby, MLA Annapolis, for the year end summer social for CORAH, at the NSCC campus in Middleton. CORAH provides ongoing informative sessions for seniors in Kings and Annapolis counties providing for community, friendship, connection, and information. The success of CORAH is overwhelming as around 100 seniors attend sessions on a daily basis. This past year alone saw 542 sessions take place! I’d like the Department of Seniors and Long Term Care for the support for the program, and Jennifer Wesman, her incredible staff and all of the partners and volunteers who all make CORAH the success story that it is for seniors in our region!
