On International Firefighters' Day, Belleville Fire and Emergency Services is proud to recognize the people behind the badge—those who answer the call at all hours, in all conditions, to serve our community.
From emergency response to fire prevention and public education, our firefighters are committed to keeping Belleville safe every single day. Their professionalism, resilience, and teamwork are at the heart of everything they do.
Today, we also pause to honour the firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Their sacrifice will always be remembered.

🚒 Training in Action – Station 3 Volunteers 🚒

Our dedicated volunteers from Station 3 have been hard at work sharpening their skills, focusing on pumping operations along with hose and nozzle handling.

Regular training like this ensures our crews are always prepared to respond safely and effectively when our community needs us most.

Thank you to our volunteers for your continued commitment and professionalism.

Firefighters from Platoons A, B, C, and D successfully complete ice rescue training last week.

With the arrival of warmer weather, ice conditions become increasingly unpredictable—creating challenging and dynamic environments for training. Despite this, crews adapted, demonstrating strong teamwork, professionalism, and commitment to maintaining these critical life-saving skills.

Great work by all members involved in ensuring readiness for these high-risk, low-frequency incidents. Stay safe and keep up the excellent work!

Special thanks to our co-op student Taya for preparing this video.

Fire & Emergency Services | Belleville Fire and Emergency Services has seen an increase in residential structure fires this year and wants to urge residents to practice fire safety in their homes.

➡️ Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms must be on every level of your home and outside of all sleeping areas.
➡️ You should test all of your alarms every month to ensure they are working properly.
➡️ Have an escape plan and practice it. Every second counts in the event of an emergency.

❄️ Winter Safety Reminder from Belleville Fire and Emergency Services❄️

Heavy snowfall can create hidden life-safety hazards around your home. A few minutes of prevention can make a big difference:

🔥 Clear snow from furnace & appliance exhaust vents. Blocked vents can cause dangerous carbon monoxide to build up inside your home. Make sure all exterior vents are clear after every snowfall.

🚨 Carbon Monoxide Alarm Safety
Ensure you have working carbon monoxide alarms on every level of your home and near sleeping areas. Alarms should be listed/approved devices, tested monthly, and have batteries replaced as needed.

🚒 Keep Fire Hydrants Clear
If there’s a hydrant near your home, please clear snow at least 1 metre (3 feet) around it. Seconds matter in an emergency—and a clear hydrant helps firefighters help you faster.

🏠 Maintain & Practice Your Home Escape Plan
Shovel and maintain clear exit paths used in your home escape plan. Take time this winter to practice your escape plan with everyone in the household.

Staying on top of these simple steps helps keep you, your family, and your neighbours safe all winter long.
