Brokenhead River Planning District The District is responsible for the preparation, adoption and administration of district land use plans and related by-laws.

The District is also responsible for the day-to-day responsibilities for the administration of Zoning By-laws, Zoning Amendments.

🏡 Planning a project this summer? Before you start building, make sure you know if a permit is required!

The Brokenhead River Planning District issues permits for a variety of residential, commercial, and agricultural projects, including:

✅ New homes
✅ Attached and detached garages
✅ Decks over 50 sq. ft. or more than 2 feet above grade
✅ Storage sheds and accessory buildings over 108 sq. ft.
✅ Swimming pools and hot tubs
✅ Moving or demolishing buildings
✅ Commercial and agricultural buildings

Fence regulations are also subject to your municipality’s zoning by-law.
Obtaining the proper permits helps ensure your project is safe, compliant, and avoids costly delays or corrections down the road.

The Town of Beausejour is proposing to annex properties from the RM of Brokenhead.
Property owners potentially affected by the proposed annexation as well as the general public are invited to attend an Open House Information Session with Town staff and consultants, CVLNS LP.
The session will provide information regarding the proposal, the annexation process, and potential implications for landowners and residents.
Residents and landowners are encouraged to attend to learn more and ask questions regarding the proposed annexation.
