Had our 2nd pratice of vehicle extraction last night. The Alix Fire department joined us to pratice together as they are a mutual aid partner of ours. Lots of learning and lots of fun.

It is illegal to fly your drone over or near first responders when they are on the scene of an emergency operation.

If you see flashing lights, emergency vehicles, or active disaster response, keep your drone grounded.

A drone can interfere with their important work and create additional hazards that could force emergency operations to stop their efforts.

Yesterday, September 25, 2026, the Bashaw Fire Department had the honour of joining family, friends, fellow firefighters, and members of the community in saying farewell to Volunteer Firefighter Dayce Newman.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dayce’s family, loved ones, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

To everyone who attended Dayce’s funeral and last ride in person, and to those who could not be there but joined us through their thoughts and prayers, thank you. Your support and respect were deeply appreciated.

A special thank you to Dayce’s family for allowing the Bashaw Fire Department the privilege of serving as his Honour Guard and accompanying him on his final ride. It was an honour for our members to stand with you and pay tribute to one of our own.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Red Knights International Firefighters Motorcycle Club, who stood alongside us in support during this difficult time. Your presence, fellowship, and support meant a great deal to our members.

We would also like to recognize our friends at Fireground Apparel Co. for helping ensure our members were suited in new station wear on very short notice for this important occasion. Your support was sincerely appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who helped us honour the life and service of Volunteer Firefighter Dayce Newman.

Rest easy, Dayce. We’ll take it from here.

Thank you to everyone who stood on the side of the roadways to give a final farewell to Dayce Newman Bashaw firefighter 47.
Deputy chief was driving the wildland truck leading the group and I was the navigator beside him.
We both teared up going by Camrose county regional FD at Ferintosh.

A reminder that it is going to be very busy around the community center tomorrow from around 930 until 1230 as we Celebrate the Life of one of our own Dayce Newman.
One Last ride will be coming into town from Camrose at around 1040. There is expected to be a lot of bikes and vehicles in the procession.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kayla, the family and friends as we gather together for this celebration of life.

We had a great pratice tonight and will post about it more tomorrow. Cody Perry from Willow Grove campground came out and donated 2000 from that awesome group out there. We will be using that donation to purchase a new FLIR camera which we have had the last few months to test out. This can be used to detect any heat source, from looking for hot spots in a building, fires in walls or ceilings or a heat souce in a field, such as hot spots after a fire or a person lost and or injured. Thank you so much. We invited Cody out to watch us in action practicing VX.
