The Barrie Public Library has three locations in Barrie – Downtown (60 Worsley St.), Painswick (48 Dean Ave.), and Holly (555 Essa Rd Unit 17)

All library locations offer free Wi-Fi, computer access, printers, and bookable study and work spaces. Visit barrielibrary.ca/myBPL to search our catalogue and borrow books and movies for free with no late fees. Our Library of Things lends unique items li

ke musical instruments, snowshoes, fishing rods, disc golf sets, cognitive care kits, sensory kits, and more! We also offer a wide range of programs each month for all ages, including Storytimes, one-on-one Coaching sessions, Baby Goose, and more. Access our Digital Library to stream or download e-books, e-audiobooks, TV shows and movies, or gain skills with online learning tools including LinkedIn Learning and Creativebug. Visit our Creative Spaces at our Downtown Library to access DIY and maker tools for free, including Cricut Maker, Cricut Mug Press, sewing machines, 3D printer, button makers! A total of $4,736 was raised! Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, shopped, and supported this community event. Your support helps grow our Creative Spaces and Library of Things collections, bringing even more exciting tools and resources to our community!

Introducing.. Ember! 🧡🦎

Thank you to our community for helping to name our new library dragoness! We had an incredible 1,233 votes for our sweet girl's name. The competition was close, with the top three names being Matilda (212 votes), Phoenix (228 votes), and our winning name, Ember, had 260 votes! ✨

Our beautiful lady is full of personality! Ember loves to climb, and is oh so fast! She has big shoes to fill in her role as Manager of Crickets and Mealworms, but so far her job performance exceeds expectations.

Be sure to stop by to meet sweet Ember. She loves seeing your smiling faces! Bonus if you read her a book. Like Norbert, Ember LOVES to be read to! 📖

Your shelves called. They’re ready to let go of that stack of thrillers you swore you’d read, the DVDs your kid watched 847 times, and the random manga collection you somehow acquired. 👀

We’re collecting donations for our Big Spring Book Sale, and we want your gently loved books, DVDs, CDs, video games, and graphic novels!

BUT.
And this is important.

If your book has:
❌ water damage
❌ mystery smells
❌ pages held together by hope
❌ stains that “add character”
❌ or was last relevant during the dial-up era…

…it may be time to thank it for its service and send it to the great recycling bin in the sky. 🫡

Basically, if you’d happily give it to a friend, or if you'd buy it in its current condition, we’d probably love it too.

Your donations help support library programs and services, so every good-condition item makes a difference. 💚
