I welcome word of an arrest and charges related to the arson incident outside my home on August 27th, and news the police are seeking an additional suspect in relation to this case.

I want to thank the Toronto Police Service for their diligent work investigating this case, and I continue to support and cooperate fully with their ongoing investigation.

As the investigation is ongoing, we still do not have information with regards to a motive for this incident. I am sure this will become apparent in time and I will await the facts before commenting further.

I would also like to thank all the members of the public who have reached out with their well wishes and support over the past week.

With the support of my colleagues and with the guidance of security professionals, I will continue my work representing the people of Scarborough Centre-Don Valley East and I look forward to returning to Ottawa when the House of Commons resumes sitting later this month.
