Barriere First Responders Society would like to extend our sincere thanks to Canadian National Railway Company for their generous $5,000 donation toward the purchase of a shelter for our FR-3 Mobile Medical & Command Trailer.

Protecting our emergency response equipment from the elements helps extend its service life, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure it remains ready when our community needs it most. By keeping FR-3 sheltered from harsh weather, we can better preserve the significant investment made by our donors, sponsors, and community supporters.

FR-3 plays a critical role in supporting medical responses, emergency management, disaster deployments, fire rehabilitation operations, and community events. Having a dedicated shelter means the trailer can remain deployment-ready year-round, allowing our volunteers to respond faster and more effectively when called upon.

Barriere First Responders Society is working to complete the next phase of upgrades to our FR-3 Mobile Medical, Command, and Rehabilitation Trailer.

These upgrades will improve our ability to operate during extended emergency responses, community events, wildfire deployments, and disaster operations.

⚡ Current Power System Needs:

🔋 Anker SOLIX Battery Expansion – $1,200

🔌 Samlex SEC-1235P Communications Power Supply – $300

📻 Epic PWRgate Automatic Battery Backup Controller – $250

🔌 Paradan Radio Power Distribution Strip – $150

💲 Total Project Goal: $1,900

Individuals, businesses, and organizations can sponsor a specific item or contribute any amount toward the project.

These upgrades will increase FR-3's available battery capacity while ensuring our communications equipment remains operational during power interruptions, trailer relocation, and emergency deployments.

Barriere First Responders Society is looking for a volunteer welder/fabricator to help us build a mast-top antenna and spotlight mount for our FR-3 Mobile Medical / Command Trailer.

The attached image is only a concept/mock-up to show the general idea and intended purpose. We are absolutely open to changes or improvements based on what would work best structurally, practically, and for long-term durability.

The goal is to create:
• A mast-top mounted assembly
• Dual antenna crossbar mount
• Center mounted spotlight platform
• One-piece welded design that bolts to the mast top

This setup would support communications and scene lighting during emergency responses, disasters, deployments, and community events.

We already have the mast, antennas, and spotlight — we are primarily looking for someone with fabrication/welding experience willing to help us bring the concept to life.

Barriere First Responders Society has officially deployed the LifeVac device for use in life-threatening choking emergencies.

This wasn’t a decision we took lightly. We’ve taken the time to review available literature and studies, and from that, we’ve developed a policy that reflects current evidence and best practices. As new research becomes available, we will continue to review and adjust our approach accordingly.

In addition, we’ve created a dedicated training course and sign-off process to ensure our members understand when and how this device should be used appropriately within our scope of care.

Our goal is always to provide the best possible care to our community while staying grounded in evidence and responsible practice.

If any organization is looking to implement a similar program, you’re welcome to use our resources or reach out—we’re happy to share what we’ve built.

Yesterday, Barriere First Responders Society was proud to be out supporting our local high school rugby game.
Our members were on standby providing medical coverage to keep players safe and the game running smoothly. It’s always great to see the community out, teams competing hard, and everyone coming together for local sports.
Thank you to the organizers, coaches, and athletes for having us out — we’re always here when you need us.

Barriere First Responders Society would like to thank Trans Mountain for their generous $5,500 donation toward upgrading our solar power system.

This upgrade helps reduce our reliance on generators while supporting our mobile medical and command trailer during emergency responses.

With this system, we expect to offset the equivalent of approximately 20 to 60 days of continuous vehicle idling each year, reducing fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions.
