Yesterday I had the chance to visit with local author Jean-Pierre Allard about his latest book, The Sport of Never Growing Up: Innocence, Tragedy and Survival. A tale of persistence and resilience, Jean-Pierre is looking to share his story and strategies to grief and motivation. Thank you for sharing with me. He will be hosting future signings at indigo Orleans on Jun 20 and Indigo Kanata on July 5 (both from 12-3)

Due to a forecast of heavy rain and a significant chance of severe thunderstorms, tomorrow's I ❤️ BARRHAVEN MARKET has been CANCELLED. This is not a decision that we take lightly but for the safety of all involved, it is unfortunately the right one.

We thank you for your interest in this event and we are excited to let you know that you can save the date for BARRHAVEN HARVEST FEST on September 20th! More details to come!

PLEASE NOTE: The regular Ottawa Farmers' Market will still be operating, it is the event portion (BBIA giveaways, Artisan vendors, bouncy castles, entertainment, etc.) that is cancelled. Feel free to stop by to grab your regular weekly veggies!

We thank you for your understanding! Stay safe everyone!

The renewal of a section of the railway path near Houlahan Park is anticipated to start Monday June 15th and be substantially completed by June 25th. This construction will be completed due to the current poor condition of the pathway. The pathway will be reconstructed and will be widened to 3 meters in width, instead of the existing 2 meters. More details about the project in the link below: https://www.davidhillbarrhaven.ca/post/pathway-renewal-near-houlahan-park-june-2026

Congratulations Khalsa Aid Canada for collecting over 160,000 pounds of food during your annual food drive - setting another record. A special shout out to Wazosan public school for their active participation this year, and I was proud to represent the mayor and my council colleagues to recognize the dedication and hard work of our Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) for their volunteerism, leadership and participation. Thank you to Karmin, Mandeep and all who supported this impactful event. At a time when food insecurity is so prevalent, every act of kindness to support a neighbour is felt that much more. Thank you

When riding an e-scooter, please be mindful of pedestrians, other road users, and your own safety.

Understand the rules of the road for e-scooters | bit.ly/3vzXrIK

E-scooters are expected to double in volume on our roadways this year to approximately 1500 operators as more people either purchase one for personal use or rent one from the City of Ottawa’s pilot e-scooter program that launched on May 28th.

It’s important that both users and drivers understand the rules of the road for e-scooters to ensure the safe use of these devices and to remember to share the road.

“We get a lot of questions about how to operate an e-scooter. The best rule of thumb is that you operate an e-scooter the same way you would ride a bicycle,” said Traffic Unit Sergeant Robert Cairns. “Be safe, wear safety equipment and watch out for vulnerable road users like pedestrians and children.”

This includes riding in bike lanes or on the shoulder of a roadway and not on sidewalks. Riders who are found using their e-scooters on sidewalks are subject to a $150 fine.
