We had a wonderful morning at our Saturday social. We started off with painting on our feathers, which then expanded to painting with feathers and paint brushes on the brown on the table. We practised taking turns on the climber using our gross motor skills, counting and encouraging each other to go down the slide. Are friends engaged in drumming and singing, making food in the dramatic center, and having lots of fun in the gross motor area.

Our windows are looking a little extra special! ❤️

Our Experience Summer Camp campers created these thank-you posters for the incredible businesses, organizations and special individuals who helped make Summer Camp 2026 possible.

Their generosity helped give local children and youth a summer filled with new experiences, friendships, fun and memories — and our campers wanted to make sure they knew just how much that support meant.

For now, the posters are proudly filling the windows of our Head Office… but next week, they’ll be heading out into the community as our campers’ thank-you to the people who helped make their summer possible. 💚

Keep an eye out — you might see one hanging in the window of a local business soon!

From all of us at NHCS, and especially our campers — thank you for investing in local kids. ☀️🌲💚

EarlyON- Busy Boots

🌿🌳🌱🌹🪵🪨

We headed out for a walk to the bridge, where little explorers enjoyed playing in nature 🌳

We made beautiful artwork using flower pounding
We used loose nature parts and glue to create our names

We explored, played, created, and followed the children’s interests along the way!

So many opportunities for creativity, connection, and learning outdoors!

Join us next Thursday from 2:00-4:00pm at High Falls in Birds Creek

EarlyON’s Kitchen Connections was all about comfort yesterday! Families joined Chef Shaun in the kitchen where there was plenty of peeling, slicing, and chopping to make a delicious fruit salad for us to share. We paired this with tasty meatloaf and creamy mashed potatoes as well as a vegetable frittata for our vegetarian friends. 🧑‍🍳🍽️

When they weren’t helping in the kitchen, families poured, scooped, and created in our apple themed sensory bin. We also squished beautiful painted leaf creations and gathered at the end of program to enjoy a delicious meal together. 🍎🍂

A big thank you to United Way Hastings & Prince Edward for making this program possible! ❤️

In our licensed Childcare programs this week, our Indigenous Cultural Coordinator, Diane, introduced the Algonquin language weather term 'Kimiwan', meaning 'rain', to the children. Through an engaging story, she encouraged the children to repeat the word throughout, laying the groundwork for a new weather term each week. The children also participated in an immersive cultural experience, featuring singing, drumming, rattles, and large motor movements, all incorporated into an action song that showcased the Anishinàbemowin Algonquin Language.

Both Ashley and Diane were super excited about the soft launch of our new and revamped Kwey Kìjik Forest & Nature School!!! Our new program will be running two days in a row, Mondays and Tuesdays from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. We even extended our hours. These exciting new changes allows us to experience a stronger, land-based learning program for all ages. Here are some of the exciting photos that were taken today in our three hour program. Just imagine what can happen in our program two days in a row.

This is a free program that has Indigenous base teachings, and how we all can benefit connecting to all of creators creations. It is for children of all ages. Parents do have to attend with their children and are encouraged to engage in all of the fun. So we hope to see your smiling faces next Monday and join us experiencing the new changes to our program.

We had a busy crew at Wigwam Wiggles this morning. We sang about our emotions and use our large and fine motor skills drumming. We did some Woodland animal yoga at our circle time and had fun balancing and bouncing on our obstacle course. They made bug sensory bags to take home with shaving cream, and we extended the play and gave them babies as they enjoyed giving them a shaving cream bath. We ended with some easel painting and a bumblebee craft and finished off with a healthy snack before everyone had to head home.

Just a reminder to all families that this is a free program open to all generations and nationalities and children of all ages. Please join us next Tuesday morning from 9 AM to 12 PM as we have extended this program by one hour.
