🌱 What We Were Doing This Week at Souris River Watershed District! 🚜💧🌾

This week, our team was out in the field, caring for community spaces, maintaining equipment, and learning alongside watershed partners.

🧪 Water sampling for Lake Winnipeg
We collected water samples for the Lake Winnipeg Foundation, contributing data that supports the long-term health of Lake Winnipeg and its watershed.

🌿 Caring for our natural areas
Staff mowed paths at our Natural Recreational Areas to help keep these spaces accessible, safe, and enjoyable for everyone exploring the outdoors.

🔧 Keeping equipment ready
We completed mower maintenance to keep our equipment ready for the ongoing work of maintaining green spaces and natural areas across the district.

🚌 Learning at the 2026 Tech Tour
Staff travelled to Gimli for both days of the East Interlake Watershed District’s 2026 Tech Tour. The tour included land-based learning and Special Projects and site visits focused on water storage, rotational grazing, reforestation, exclusion fencing, shelterbelts, wetland projects, livestock runoff filtration, and Oak Hammock Marsh. It was a valuable opportunity to learn from innovative projects and bring new ideas back to the Souris River Watershed.

Our Manager Neil and 2 of our board members were out in Neepawa this week for a 2 day tour of the Whitemud Watershed District for the annual MAW Tour! Thank you Whitemud Watershed District for organizing a fun and educational couple of days!
