AFTER-HOURS ON-CALL PREVENTION SUPPORT

Our on-call Prevention Workers are available to assist children, parents, caregivers and families with urgent prevention needs that arise after regular office hours, on weekends or during office closures.

✅ WHAT WE MAY HELP WITH - depends on the family’s immediate circumstances:

• Emergency diapers, wipes or formula
• Urgent food needs for children, such as milk or basic groceries
• Immediate hygiene or essential household supplies
• Connecting families with emergency shelters, crisis supports or community services
• Providing information, referrals and guidance
• Supporting families during an urgent situation affecting a child’s well-being
• Completing a brief assessment and arranging follow-up with the Prevention Team
• Helping families develop a short-term safety or support plan

⚠️If someone is in immediate danger, experiencing a medical emergency or there is an urgent safety threat, please contact local police, emergency medical services or the appropriate crisis service immediately.

On-call assistance is temporary emergency support. Families who need ongoing assistance will be connected with the Prevention Team during regular office hours for assessment, planning and follow-up.

Regular office hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Please note - we can be contacted by FB Messenger or email, until further notice

📢 Prevention Program – After-Hours & Weekend Support

Our Prevention Staff will now have an On-Call Calendar in place to better support our children and families when urgent needs come up outside of regular office hours. The official on-call calendar and information poster will be posted tomorrow.

In the meantime, for any urgent requests after 5:00 PM or during weekends, please message or email me directly.

After-hours support is intended for urgent needs, such as diapers, formula, essential food items, or other immediate necessities involving children and families.

We understand that these situations have come up in the past, and unfortunately, we did not have a proper after-hours process in place at the time. I am currently working on putting a clear process in place so our Prevention Staff can respond appropriately while also ensuring everything is properly documented and accounted for.

Please keep an eye out tomorrow for our Prevention On-Call Calendar and After-Hours Support information.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue building and improving our Prevention Program to better support our community. ❤️

The Attawapiskat First Nation Child & Family Wellbeing Services Prevention Team is seeking a reliable truck for rent to support daily program operations.

The vehicle would be required for use seven days a week. The truck would primarily remain available to the Prevention Team; however, we are open to arrangements that allow the owner to access the vehicle when needed, provided this can be coordinated in advance with the team.

If you have a suitable truck available for rent and are interested in discussing rental terms and availability, please contact Teyonna Spence at [email protected].

Interested vehicle owners are encouraged to reach out as soon as possible.
