❓What do you know about the Williams Treaties?
❗Treaties in Canada are important. They are the agreements between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people that define rights and responsibilities. In 1923, a series of treaties were signed known as the "Williams Treaties." These treaties revised in 2018 to include missing rights (fishing, harvesting, hunting) that were included in other treaties but were not a part of the Williams Treaties.
The Great Lakes Research Alliance has a summary of history of the Williams Treaties here: https://grasac.artsci.utoronto.ca/?p=2169
